Burris vs Leupold Scopes?

If you choose Leupold pass on the 8.5 to 25. Things get distorted and weird above 20 power. Your eye-relief has to be perfect. I have owned this scope and will no longer carry them in the store. I sold mine after a year. However. I love the 6.5 to 20 long range target. This scope with a super fine crosshair and target dot is the cats meow! VERY SWEET, but expensive. I own a dozen varmit rigs and this is my all time favorite.
I sell lots of Burris and own several myself. The Black Diamond is no slouch by any standard. The 6 to 24 with a fine duplex or mil-dot is great for long range varmiting and can be had for less then a long range target.
My humble opinion. Buy the leupold long range target if money is not a factor.

Leupolds make my day. I don't have as many guns as most of these guys, but after owning a M8-fixed 6X-42mm (which was on a used gun I bought) - I doubt I'll own anything else. The clarity and light were beyond anything I've owned previously. Last week I purchased a new Vari-X III to top my .300 WM. Can't wait to get it boresighted and to the range. The old Vari-X II and Vari-X III line of Leupolds are being phased out but are very good quality scopes and can be had for a bargain right now. Check online retailers and Ebay.

I have over the last 1/2 century tried and used several well known brands of scopes such as Weaver, back in the 50's Redfield in the 60's and 70's too. I went to Leupold in the early 80's and have never been happier with the product and especially their warranty, it has been Rock Solid at this house.

However, last year I looked through several scopes once again, trying to compare apples to apples etc. Sometimes that is NOT an easy thing to do. I would NOT be affraid to consider purchasing one of the 3200 or 4200 series scopes put out by Bushnell.

Now saying that, I would by all means, compare those scopes together at the same time outdoors, (if at all possible)not just look through them inside the store. You need to look through them under natural sunlight, various distances before you I lay your hard earned money down on the counter.

I I have owned a fair number of Leupolds and have always been very happy with the product as well as their warranty service. I have also owned *ONE* Burris and had a problem with one of the optics in the scope. I had such a difficult time with the repair service that it convinced me to never purchase another Burris. Ever. I also own a 4200 Elite and think that, so far, it is an equal with any of the Leupolds I own.

Bushnell 4200 series. Have one on a 22-250 and going to buy another for my new 6BR. Great scope without the extra $$ for the brandname.

Gm223: The answer to your question is - go with the Leupold. It is by far the superior scope! Your money is much better invested in the Leupold.
Go to a bunch of bench rest matches (as I have) and observe the equipment used there! Those folks all want their bullets to go where aimed! Leupold does that job exceptionally well! Leupold dominates that discipline!
I have never seen a Burris used at a BR Match!
Good luck with whichever you choose.

Burris in opinon is a bargin. I have 3, 2 signatures, 6-24fp & 8-32md. 1 Black Diamond 6-24 BMD. All have preformed very well. The side focus on the BD is a great feature.
Also look at the Zeiss Conquest. USA made and transferable warrenty. Very nice scope.
Good luck making a choice. Can't really go wrong.

I ain't much for wearing jewelery so my guns don't get a gold ring either.
You can't hardly go wrong w/ either one so grab one & get it on your gun & start shooten! That's what it's all about. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Welp my personal experience her since I've owned all 3 of the them.

Burris = ok but has a cheapo aura kinda like tasco. Kmart shopper feel.
Leupold = VX-3 stuff and LPS are great
Nightforce NXS - The only med to long range scope I'll buy now. You can't beat the awesome side focus npr2 or dd varmint recticles and they are durable as heck.

Lol
