Bushnell 4200 Elite anyone?

I recently got turned onto these little scopes and I must say I am extremely impressed with the clarity and brightness. I'm to the point that these are the only scopes I'm currently using. I have a 6-24X40 and an 8-32X40 and they both really are clearer than any of my Leupolds or my Nightforce NXS.

Has anyone else checked these out? I have no idea what they sell for on the retail side. I'm lucky enough to be a member of a club that will order them for members at cost. I can buy 2 6-24X40s for what it costs to buy 1 Leupold Vari-X III 6.5-20X50 w/ SF.

No I'm not about bashing the other mfg's. I'm just more impressed by these Elite 4200s every time I look through them.

Cheers!

hoosierdaddy,

You better watch out posting stuff like that, I got it from someone and I won't call names, awhile back for saying nearly the same thing. Alot of luby lovers on this board. I did the same thing I compaired two side by side and the Elite was alot brighter and clearer on various power ranges. I have since replaced all of my lupy's with the Elite's.

I don't know how well there warrenty is as I have yet had to send one back. Leupold has a great warrenty they will make it right to you, I have even heard that if it is unfixable they will send you another one. I know of this happening.

Lets see what do I have in my safe?

Hmmmmmmm lets see:
Bausch & Lomb (Bushnell) 4000 Elite 6x24x40
Bausch & Lomb (Bushnell) 4200 Elite 36x40
Bausch & Lomb (Bushnell) 3000 Elite 3x9x40

Yeah I'd say I'm a Bausch & Lomb (Bushnell) fan. I sure wish they would come back to their sences and start calling the Elite series Bausch & Lomb again.

I don't currently own one. I will strongly consider purchasing a Elite the next time I'm in the market for a new scope. You have to feel good about something that cost less than some the competition and the quality is really good. That would make me feel good too. The real test will come when you put a scope on a magnum rifle, shoot it many times, couple of hundred or more, shoot it in the Texas heat, shoot it in the Colorado cold, get it soaking wet like I did mine this deer season and remain clear/hold zero. NIKON

I used to only own Leupold, but now I don't even think about them when shopping for a new scope. There are so many out there that are as good if not better and cost less. I like the Nikon, and Zeiss Conquest a lot. And I have heard so many good things about the Elites that I am planning on getting a 3200 series just to try it out. I want the new Fire Fly reticle, seems like that would be sweet.

Man Zeiss, geepers kreepers (Hey aint' they German, got a problem with the Germany lately), if I could spare the money for a Zeiss, Kahil, Swarovski or any other European optic.........well,.... I'd get a better truck instead and take the kids out for ice cream. But thats just me, good optics are good optics.

Just bought a Elite 3200 5x15 to put on my .221 fireball. Set it up last night and I am very happy. I need another scope for my .22-250 and will probably look at a Elite 4200.

I recently bought a 3200 elite at Walmart at a close out for $94.00. I have been pretty impressed with it. I wish I had bought the other one they had.

I have two 4200's one on 700rem Police one on a
Tika 300win .....with alot of rounds through it and it handeled the recolie fine also my .308 win
tactical has a 4200.8-32 (.223and 300win are 6-24)

as for taking a beating and still working One of my other 6-24 4200's has taken about 8000 rounds of my supped up crow magnum air gun .....the same gun that broke two leapold'varix III

man I am hooked on 4200,s just got another one last night for my Dad's .243 heavey barrel....said he wants to shoot with me at 1000yards.....for that distance....it is a no brainer ....8-32 4200 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Jonathan

I think you're pretty safe with the Elite 4200. This was the flagship model when their firm was known as Bausch & Lomb, one of the best names (not just rifle scopes) in optics. My next scope will likely be an Elite 4200. Best wishes.

My son just put a 6X24 Bushnell 4200 Elite on a Varmit Rifle I gave him. While I like it alot, I still prefer the Nikon for clarity. The 4200 is very l o n g as compared to the Nikon. But Nikon doesn't make a 24X scope and is about 100 bucks more. Both are better scopes than Leopolds in my opinion.( I'll add Burris to that list also )

How are the Bushnells as far as eye relief? That is one thing I really like about the Leupolds. The long eye relief on my 300 Win Mag is a big plus. I realize that it is not as much of a problem with the 22 centerfires. Anyway, just wondering.

I just picked up a Zeiss 6.5-20x50 Conquest last week. I paid $729 at the local shop in town which was cheaper than the Leupold. I'd have to say I am very impressed with the Zeiss and it didn't cost as much as I thought it would. For my next project I think I'll try one of the 4200 after hearing what you all have had to say about them. Do they make one with the side paralax adjustment? I gotten to really like that feature. I have it on my Zeiss and 4.5-14x50 Leupold LRM1.

Michael, when I think of Zeiss I am talking about the american made Conquest series, it is a 1" tube and a 3x9x40 will run you about $360. And it has a 4" eye relief!

I recently purchased an Elite 3200 4-12x40 for my CZ 527 (D&R Sports). Finally got the chance to take it to the range last weekend and am VERY pleased with it. After a little fine tuning, I shot an honest 1" group at 100 from the hood of my truck, so I think the gun can do better. The scope is clear, bright, and seems to be going to work out well. Only time will tell.

I hope to take this rifle p-dog hunting later this year, so that should wring it out pretty well.
