Bushnell Holosight......Did you know?

I've been deciding between an EOtech or Bushnell Holosight for my AR. I had some questions about the new Bushnell XLP Holosight, so I called Bushnell.

During the course of a conversation that I was having with a Bushnell representative, I was informed that EOtech makes all the Bushnell Holosights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif That made my choice a lot easier, as I like the Bushnell XLP and thought it would be a good choice. Especially, since Cabelas has them for $199.00. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I've not heard anything bad about either the EOtech or the Bushnell Holosights.

The bushnell holosights are definately worth the money on a hunting gun or for our usual purposes. Where the eo-tech models differ is they are waterproof to a deeper level, a little more shock resistant, offer NV compatible versions and a few other small differences. The miliatry has some pretty hard tests that we wouldn't dream of putting our equipment through, at least I ain't going to. I'm sure you'll be quite happy with your decision.

That XLP is a pretty slick little number isn't it? Nothing wrong with Bushnell. I still have an original Holosight as well as a new Eotech. They both work great.

If you're going to put it on a flattop I'd go with the Eotech though because it sits at the same height as your iron sights would. Much more comfortable sighting. When you bring up the rifle, you're right on target. Also you can put BUIS on and they'll co-witness.

You can get a 502 for $250.00.

Tonlocus--where have you seen a 502 for that price? I have just started researching to see if i want to go this route. Here in Alabama all of my shots are going to be less than 150 yds with most being much closer than that and i figured an EOTech type sight would be much quicker than a scope.

also what does BUIS mean? something iron sights? back up?

quick question...other than quite a bit of money what is the difference between the military, standard, and tactical holosights shown on SWFA.com?

i know the military ones are set up to be compatible with NV and can be submersed deeper than the others. but is there any benefit on a calling gun of the tactical over the standard?

sorry hit the submit button too quick.

No, not really for a calling gun unless you use NV or go diving or plan to throw your gun onto a concrete floor, the cheaper models work the same as far as sights go. It just depends on how paranoid you are about your equipment.

yeah i saw the difference in battery life, but wondered if it would be worth the extra $80 or so that it costs when i could always carry extra batteries in my buttstock

Probably not but that brings up another thing that I'm not sure about the 502. The 510's and 550's have quick change battery levers on them. You might want to check to see if the 502 does too. My Bushnell uses an allen wrench to change the batteries which is a pain in the a$$ when in the field.

I have two Holosights. One is the plain dot and it works best on a rifle. The latest acquisition is a standard reticle (circle and dot). It is much faster to get on target than the plain dot when used on a handgun.

Overall, I like the Bushnells. I would like the NV capability and the faster auto turnoff the EOTech offers.

When I am rich and famous, I will get an EOTech.
