Bushnell Holosight?

Was considering putting a red dot scope on my scattergun for quite some time now.Been showing some interest in the bushnell holosight.Any of you gentlemen have any experience shooting one? Just looking for some feedback. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I believe they were made by EOtech for bushnell. They had hard plastic type buttons. The AA battery models last longer than the N battery model. But they are also longer by about an inch. The new EOtechs have soft touch buttons, 20 brightness setting (i believe) The RevF models are brighter than the older models, and somemodels are equiped to be used with night vision .

I have one of the AA models its my second one.I sold the first on a 22 pistol, absolutely loved it. I am considering selling the one I have now, its never been mounted, very bright and with a sun shade.

I have two of the mini-holosights (second generation sights). /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

They have the soft buttons and are the "N" battery models.

I strongly suggest the AA units unless weight and bulk are absolutely out of the question. Most larger handguns and certainly long guns would "wear" the AA unit with ease.

Finding N bats can be a pain and they just don't last or cost like AA bats.

What can one do with one of these sights? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Well I have one on a Ruger Redhawk and one on a Dan Wesson and they shoot snake eyes with these sights. With the Ruger, I have shot golf balls at 35 yds ...... with regular frequency.

The EOTechs are very nice. Like Crapshoot wrote they build a NV compatible unit that works day or night. There is a third button that dims the reticle for NV.

If you get a holosight there is just one caution....figure out if you are going to shoot with one or two open and sight in that way. That's about the only catch.

I had one of my holosights mounted on a Rem 742 in .30-06 for a while last year ........ you talk about a sweet combo!

Its made by eotech, and is basically a cheaper version of the eotech, it has no protective casing around it, but basically the same thing. I have the eotech and love it btw.

I also have one on a Browning Buckmark and I love it. I switched it over to my AR for awhile and I liked it. I'll end up buying an Eotech for my AR in the near future.

My grandfather has an older Halo sight on his 12ga 3" and he hasn't has any problems with it. He can milk jug caps at 100yards with no problem.

I had one on a .22 S&W revolver. A lot of squirrels went in the stew because of that rig. Never had any problems with it.

I have an older EOtech that I bought as a setup for bow. I dont think they offer that anymore. It now finds its home on my .22 Buckmark, Ruger 10/22 for night vamints and I put it on my shotgun too. Has held up to all the guns bows and swaps I put it through.
Only complaint I have with it is I cant see the reticle on a bright snowy day. New models are brighter ive heard.

N batteries that I find are in the supremarket hiding with the medical batteries. $2.99 for 2.

I think that the regular Holosight will hold up fine on your 12 ga. but if you have any reservations I would try the EOTech ........... it's got the extra shroud and a shorter time to "auto shut down" than the Bushnell and thus conserves batteries better.

Ended up ordering a Pine Ridge red dot scope from Cabelas. It's 36mm,camo,four different recticles, multicoated lenses and supposedly fog/shock proof.I was also looking at the Mueller red dot holosight-type as well.Anyway I went with the cabelas red dot.If I don't care for it I can always sell it and put my bushnell 1.75 X 4 back on.Just wanted to try a new toy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
