Well, after a long wait, I finally decided to pull the plug and get these Legend Ultra HD bino's.
When I box arrived I thought it was kinda big, but figured there would be some padding in there.
I opened the box and realized the hard case they come in is huge!
I thought OMG!!! I've made a mistake!!
Well, I open the hard case and pull out the bino's and to my surprise and pleasure, they are not all that big. Whew!!
In the hard case was the standard design neck sling to carry them.
I also had another bag in there so I opened it up only to find the kind that go over your shoulder and around your back!!
Here is what all was in the hard case:
The hard case, the around the back style harness, the neck harness and the bino's.
And the bino's:
I couldn't be happier!
I had them out in the desert along with my other pair of 35 year old Bushnell's.
I compared the two side by side and the new ones are sooo much better.
With the old ones (8x20), at 300 yards I could not discern the small branches of the bushes or the stems of grass.
With the new ones, 10x42 I could clearly see the small branches in the bushes and see some of the stems of grass that had some contrast behind them.
Some of the things I really like are the focus knob is not super fast. On the old ones there was just a tiny amount of movement between in focus and out of focus. The new ones are a little slower so as you rotate it they come into focus slowly and you don't have the tendency to go past the correct focus.
Another thing is they have a large and forgiving eye box. No more dark edges. They seem much more forgiving than the older ones.
But the bottom line they give so much more clearer and crisper images that they are a huge improvement over what I already had.
They are a little bigger and heavier than the old ones, but so much clearer the trade off is worth it.
For the dollar spent, I think I dun good!
If you've made it this far....thanks for reading.
