Bushy XM15 Transform or a new build

I have an older Bushmaster XM15 E2S A2 Carry Handle 16" HBAR 1/9 twist that I want to be a flat top and free float forearm grip.

Been flip flopping for months as to replace these parts or just get a new upper/build one, I want the barrel to be 16" like it is now

I'd have to get an A3 upper receiver, new foregrip, remove the front sight, re-blue (assuming so underneath once removed), new front gas block new trigger (the factory service is CRAP), and a handful of other things.

I want the best accuracy and will primarily use this for varmint hunting and range work when bored. Probably just shoot 55 grn, but also have an RRA P.P. 20" that I'll work up 69-77grn bullet loads to help buck the wind and use for longer distances.

Wondering what you all would recommend??? Sell what I have and start over with a new upper or build, or switch out the parts? Just really confused as to my best option here!

If that's your only rifle is say get another upper together. I can get you contact number for a guy in as that has all of it sitting on his shelf probably minus a bolt. I have the same rifle only a 20" that I put a freer load hanguard on and put the front sight back on. I really enjoy it that way, but I have multiple ARs. Pm me if you want his number

I was initially going to buy a flattop receiver, a forearm guard, and the tools to do it. BUT... I'm worried I may not have the accuracy I'd want anyhow after that, then would have to replace the barrel too!

I'll probably just go ahead and sell the upper, either buy a complete assembled upper or the parts to build one myself exactly how I want it. Get a Geiselle trigger for my RR Predator 20" and put the N.M. 2 stage from that on my Bushy lower and mate it with the new upper/build and just save some headaches.

I'll shoot ya a PM.

Thanks!

I think you can try to sell it, but I don't think you'll get much for it. A2 receivers aren't really in high demand. It would be cheaper to buy the A3 and assemble from there. It's only like $50 to buy the multi tool and plastic clamps.

As far as accuracy goes, your current barrel will shoot the same on the new upper. I run a 16" Bushmaster Patrolman barrel (carbine, 1:9, non-chrome lined) that is extremely accurate with my handloads.
