Buying guns on line .. Auctions .. Listings .. etc.

Not long ago I restarted skeet shooting and now I'm bitten by the "I need another Shotgun" bug. I'm looking for an old shotgun that is not commonly available (an O/U Remington Skeet Gun) here locally. But there are several available online. My question is have you used online purchasing oppertunities (EDIT: FOR FIREARMS) and what has been your experience good or bad?

By the way if you have one of these shotguns that you are looking to unload, let me know.

Hi ya Michael not Mike.

The wife does it all the time with other items. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

One of the best rules and I'm sure others will help, is to read their feedback from past buyers.

Ask your FFL if they've done bussiness with these people.

And there's always the FCC rules for going after those that may stick you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Good luck and I hope it all comes out good for Ya.

I've purchased several guns online myself. Haven't had a bit of trouble and have been pretty pleased actually with the speed and professionalism the companies gave me. My experiences have always been with "new in the box" guns so you may have a very different situation with used guns where you may not end up with what you saw in the picture or something. Good luck with your endevour, if you stick with a large company I don't think you'll have any problems.

Michael, I have purchased five guns from five different people/dealers at www.auctionarms.com, and every transaction has gone as quickly and smoothly as could be. Not all the guns were new and the used ones were in the conditon described and better. That's the only site I've bought from and I won't hesitate to do it again. Reading the seller feedback does give you an idea of who you are dealing with.
Good Luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I just bought a Remington Model 7 Youth in 243 for my daughter. The pic showed it with a wood stock and since they dont make them with a wood stock, thats what I wanted. when the gun arrived, it was NIB as described, but was sporting a synthetic stock. I was pissed. Ask any and all questions before buying. Thank goodness the local gun shop had a wood stock from a model 7 youth and swaped it for me at no charge. I gave the seller a bad review, But kept the Item as it wasn't worth the hassle to send it back since i wasn't going o get a NIB model 7 with a wood stock any how.

thanks I've added Auctionarms.com to my favorites list.
Edit: Crapshoot, good point I never would have thought to ask if the firearm pictured is actually the firearm I was bidding on.

I've used auctionarms.com and www.gunbroker.com for two gun purchases online. Both sellers delivered quickly and was as advertised. My dad has gotten a couple off of gunbroker.com as well and they were both good purchases and as advertised.

I've had great transactions on Gunbroker.com on several ocassions, and everything went off without a hitch. Ask questions beforehand. Good luck!

Well I made the leap. Thanks guys for your advice.
An O/U Remington 3200 Skeet (most reasonably priced world class gun out there right now) popped up on GunBroker.com at a reasonable starting price so I bid on the gun. After a bit of jockying with my bids I recieved the "You won" message from GunBroker.com. Right now $830.00 + S&H charges seem like a pretty good deal. Lets see how this plays out.

Hello Michael,
I've use Gun Broker and got my National Match Gold Cup .45. It was advertised in excellent condition, Got it for $600 + FLL costs and shipping.
Took it to my gunsmith to check out. He pronounced it in brand new condition. But remember you can get good and honest deals but it's still caveat emptor

I've bought, sold & traded in three places - Gunbroker, Auctionarms, & SASSnet, never had a problem, just keep in mind anytime you pay before yo see it's a ganble, be sure to check sellers feedback , it means a lot - IMHO

Well, I finally got the shotgun. Over all it was a good experience even though it took a little while longer to get this gun than I expected, but with good reasons for the delay. I haven't shot the gun yet but at this pont it looks like a great deal. My dealer looked at the gun, asked what I payed for it, looked at the gun again, then said "You can't get hurt on this gun for that price." That means alot to me because we have a very active skeet/trap group here in Tucson and he is the dealer of choice for shotguns around here. They see a large number of this level gun so they know what they are looking at.
