Bye Bye lead bullets

I'll say it again: you can't inhibit the production of a commodity without diminishing supply. You don't diminish supply without attendant price increases. It's simple economics. Rationalization and denial cannot alter the laws of economics.

that is indisputable!

They are doing their best to cram OBUMER CARE down our throats. And that doesn't seem to be going well. (Hope it falls apart on it's own .) And I imagine the lead bullet schrade will resemble prohibition, a little harder to find. A little more expensive. But still easy enough to buy. The gooberment can only cram chit down peoples throat so long. Before the people put a boot in their arse. Excuse me now I have to prepare for a visit from NSA..

To the gentleman who suggested "wild conspiracy theories" let me just offer this. You are losing your freedom a piece at a time and have been for years. We should all wake up and do something about it starting at the ballot box. And for everyone who reads this post make sure and ask your guests over Christmas dinner if they have signed up for Obamacare. In his speech yesterday he boasted that over two million people now have healthcare because of the Affordable Care Act. He omitted the fact that over six million people have lost their healthcare because of the Affordable Care Act. Yet we keep voting people like that back in office. Absolutely amazing...

I just love it when people disagree with me and then restate exactly what I just wrote. I don't know why some people are so anxious to take umbrage with everything a fellow gun owners says when it is obvious they didn't even understand it?

Ummm... what part didn't you understand when I wrote:

As I quite clearly stated, we DO NOT need to invent wild scams whereby the Government is trying to steal our rights by slow-burn raw material supply restrictions. They are doing so quite clearly and successfully through outright freaking gun and ammo bans. And when a fellow gun owners calls that out, everyone shouts him down.

Maybe it's just too simple for some people to understand, but here's an idea: Let's stop gun and ammo bans by stopping gun and ammo bans. That idea seems to work well for the NRA, but apparantely it's too complicated for some guys on this site.

Again, you just disagreed with me by repeating what I just wrote. Wouldn't it be easier to just say you agree with me?

I don't know what it is, but there seems to be a large number of people who CLAIM to be pro Second Ammendment, but all they want to do is sit around and listen to talk radio and argue with people who are on the same side. I wonder how many of these big talker pro-gun guys don't even belong to the NRA and don't even vote every election?

So, if someone disagrees with you, then "all they want to do is sit around and listen to talk radio and argue with people who are on the same side." It seems to me that YOU are getting your information from somewhere, and buying into it, and arguing with people who are on the same side.

There's truth and there's falsehood. I'd much rather believe everything is fine, but understanding the basics of how markets work shines a rather bright light on the truth in this matter, which is that this (the closure of the lead refinery) is another instance of the statists using every trick in the book to diminish the availability of ammunition.

you said that we need to focus on "real threats", implying that the governments activities to impede production of, or increase cost of ammo or its raw materials are not real threats. ignoring the attempts at back door gun control is a great way to end up with no guns ( or at least nothing to put in them), we can more easily combat the open attempts at gun control legislation. it is much more difficult to fight the not so easy to see attempts. to fail to fight on ALL fronts is how we will lose rights before many know that they are gone. they are real threats, just not as easy to see, if you don't see it well then, you may be the one that it is "too complicated for". your original post and some of the quotes argue that we should not waste time or effort on anything than actual gun control legislation. if that is not what you meant to say, you should clarify your position.

and before you try to accuse me of only claiming to be pro second amendment, you might be wise to get information about someone before insulting them. maybe your insults were not directed to me personally, but it sure looks like it.

i happen to be a Patron Life Member of the NRA, i have been a life member since my early 30's. i first joined in my early 20's. i contribute to the NRA every year to the tune of a few hundred dollars sometimes it is over $1000, that is NOT part of any membership. i have voted in every local, state, and federal election since i was old enough to vote. i have also donated to the campaigns of pro-gun candidates.
