Byron,

Hey Woodrow,

Depends on the size of the ranch. I hunt some that or 1500 acre that wont take but a couple of days a year. I also hunt some that or 15 to 40 sections that I haven't ever over called. I like to call in as fresh an area as possible as you can call a spot to death. If you keep going back to the same spot every week sooner or later you've either killed or educated them and your success will tank. Coyotes are extremely inteligent, and don't forget very fast if ever. I would suggest if you think you've called a ranch to much your probably right. That being said I have a couple of honey holes that produce several coyote every year. We just try not to let any leave educated.

Hope thats what you were looking for. That wasn't much answer.

Good Huntin

Well, the main focus of my question is an 8,000 acre ranch. If I were to call it everytime I go down there, it would be too much I think. I go down there 2 times a month on avg. for the next 4-5 months. I guess I could rotate where I call on the ranch, call one end one trip and the other end the next. I am not the only one calling either. My in-laws call when they are bored in the deer stand. They do have some success, but I wonder how much they are educating them too?

It was a vague question, you answer was all I was looking for......just a general idea. If you could take the info above and come up with a suggestion, that'll be great. But I think if I just use common sense and doing is as sparingly as possible........it'll work out better.

Thanks Byron.

I have one ranch that I call every year and probably hit it a dozen times or so each year, it's about 2400 acres and I have different stands that produce nearly every time I call. The surrounding areas don't get much pressure and I guess they spill over onto this ranch. They even brought in a helicopter last year and I called 3 about a week after the flyby. Some areas might be different but I am somewhat limited to land to call so I just keep hitting these same places year after year and I'm fairly succsessful. I do use different sounds from time to time. My hunting partner killed over 30 last year all on 900 or so acres behind his house, so I don't think we're going to run out of them anytime soon. Good luck.

Thanks Tom, I guess a lot depends on the land and what's on it! I was thinking that changing the sound would be a good idea too.
