Hi,
I have a new CZ 527 American chambered 17 HH I can't get the mag. to go in far enough to get the mag release to engage the slot in the mag . This rifle is new never fired . Is there a trick or fix that anybody knows and would care to share . I finally got everthing ready to start test firing and now this the mag fits fairly tight but it isn't all the way up it lacks quite a bit of bing in far enough to feed. Thanks in Advance for any and all help.
Rick

Couple of questions.

Have you taken the rifle apart, and reassembled. CZ's sometimes can be tricky and don't always get re-assembled correctly.

Will the magazine seat in the mag-well when empty, or with the bolt pulled back?

Did it come with the magazine in it from the factory. Meaning did it fit before and you took it out, but can't get it back in?

This happened to me... Had to disassemble and redo to get the mag to clip in correctly..

I have two that had the same problem, I filed on the magazine notch on the mag until it would latch. In retrospect however I think you could do the same by putting a shim under the bottom metal because that is where the latch is. I also filed the latch slot out a little.

I haven't done any more the take the mag out and the bolt and clean the bore and the bolt and then relubed . The mag doesn't sit clear down on the ears on either end of the mag. I put a couple of rounds in the mag and the bolt slides right over the shell in the mag doesn't even move it .

I tried it with the mag empty and with a couple rounds in it . With the bolt open and bolt closed . It sticks good enough it won't fall out but it doesn't latch.

Is the release button "springy?" If not, disassemble.

It should be pulled outward as the barreled action is inserted in the stock. A little piece of painters tape helps to hold the bottom metal in place to free up your hand.

first of all thanks to everyone who posted with help. I put the mag in and loosened the screws on either end of the trigger and started working the mag till it dropped down so the tabs on the end of the mag are resting on the shelf in the mag well. Problem 1 solved . I placed a loaded round in mag and carefully closed bolt cartridge started foreward the nose popped up and out toward the ejection port jamming the bolt . I then tried it with 2 and 3 rounds . With 3 I got the top to feed straight in and the ejector pulled it the next tried to kick up and out but with some extra bolt work I did get it to feed and eject the last round kicked up and out and stuck with the rim hung up in the mag and standing almost straight up and trying to go into the chamber opening side ways almost like a stove pipe jam in a 1911 . This is My FIRST CZ and I am at a loss as to how a new never fired rifle can feed that badly . I noticed that the mag has 17 / 22 hornet stamped on the mag follower . The rifle is new but I have had it for awhile I got busy with work and was looking for ammo etc. and so it has sit for 8 or 9 months . Is there a problem with the combo mag ??

Our local gun shop had to send a whole batch of these magazines back to CZ for the same reason.. I have three that are that way and the problem is the retainer slot is not machined at the same height as a working magazine is. You can send them back or get a small file and make the slot the same as on a working magazine if you can find one to compare. If not, you will have to contact CZ. Hope this helps some.
