Cabelas coming to Salt Lake!!

Today, Aug 12, is the first day open for the Cabelas store in Wheeling, WV. I am not going, but 2 guys I work with are going tommorrow. The grand opening is scheduled for Aug 20.

Doggone them! They couldn't do it when I worked, but now that I'm disabled and on a very small fixed income they show-up within driving distance.

Wonderful store to have in your neighborhood. I live 2miles from the store in Pa. What a place to take my 3 boys in the evening after dinner. It is a class A store and great to have around. It opened last Sept. and they are on target to hit 7 million visitors in the first year and other than opening weekend traffic has been fine. I ain't too excited about it. They've been working the politicians around here for years. Not sure exactly what kind of a deal they cut, but if they are getting even close to the kind of tax incentives and sweetheart land deal they've been holding out for, they are getting enough of my money already by way of the taxes I pay. I'll take my business somewhere else.

To locate a major business in Utah, you have to have major tax incentives. Utah is very greedy as for state taxes. The income tax alone is competing with CA and NY.

Ya NASA we got Turners, but it's a weekend outing to go down the hill to that place.

Just barely better than nothing..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

We have a Cabelas in Kansas City and it can be habit forming. I have a little trouble getting out of there without spending more than I planned.

Way better than Bass Pro in my opinion.

Cabelas will be a nice addition and good stable employment for a bunch of folks. Hopefully they are going to get sales staff that are trained in customer service and the importance of it, unlike Sportsmans Warehouse.

I'll also take Cabelas over Bass Pro anyday. WI may not be the most business friendly state but we sure could use a cabelas in the central or SE part of the state.

If I heard Fox 13 News right, they said this thing will open in September of 2005. Only one year to build one of those monsters?! I for one can't wait! If for nothing else to save a little on shipping and that oh-so lonnnng wait for something you really, really, really wanted... er, I mean, needed. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
