called out! new post forum challeng pg 1, new pictures page 2

On another thread about flyers, I made a statement about holding an inch for 12 rounds, although it was a poorly written post, and I meant that I could still put 3 rounds in an inch with a hot barrel... it got me thinking. Could I really hold an inch for 12 consecutive shots? So after being called out in a post that was poorly written, I put up a target, and under a timer (range officer) put 12 consecutive shots down range in 5 minutes, twice, after a scope adjustment I put out the second one.

No this is out of my 22-250 savage 12.

Still working up a load for the creedmoor, changed powders, and got better measuring tools. So basically started from scratch. This is the most recent from the Creedmoor.... edit: that is a 5 round group

You are correct, 300 was the original distance for 3 rounds with a hot barrel, however I was only setup for 100 because the range was full... getting close to rifle season here. Next time I go I'll read the other post and run it within the parameters and try to setup at 300 and run it again. For me getting less than moa at 100 under time constraints is pretty good

save you the trouble of looking for it. here is what you said.

That looks to me like you said 15 shots @ 300yds in a inch. I don't think anyone cares how long you take if you pull it off.

Thanks Chuck norris haha! the original statement was 12 in an inch. The update nortex, was saying that after 12 shots at say 100. Could switch to 300 and put 3 more intoan inch. Not 15.

Its about 4 pages back, so what part should I do, hot barrel. 3 in an inch, or all 12 at 300? Never claimed to be that good, that response was based on the last range trip,

however I'm willing to make a game out of it, lets see what you guys got? Say three rounds at your longest distance. Mine is 300 bench. I'll do the 12 rounds too. Just for kicks

No great feat to hold 1" at 100 yards no matter how MANY shots with a good shooting rifle. No one would call you out for that. To say you can CONSISTANTLY shoot 1" groups at 300 yards (hot or cold barrel) is Chuck Norris talk.

Don't think you have redeemed your earlier statement. Unless you put all 12 under .32 inches (.318309877204" to be exact). It's mathmatically impossible to CONSISTANTLY (this means very very often) hold 1" groups at 300 yards. This is BEFORE you factor in conditions which can/will be the hard part. I have shot a few 5-shot groups less than 1". I would not DARE say I can do it consistantly; my name isn't Chuck

6BR at 500 yards, 70 grain Nosler, IMR 4895

I missed the wind shift on #3, waited for a bit, then sent three more.

Youre right, but I never once said I could do it everytime, I made a statement based on current information, where my 13, 14, and 15th shot was under an inch. If I can find the target I'll post it. As you can see I barely held an inch at 100, let me look around in my stacks of targets and post the target I based my statement on.

Edit: found my targets from that day, data book says no wind. So im sure that helped, scope was not leveled properly, so the shots are tracking to the right. 6 shots were shot at 100 for zero. Or close to it, then the string started at 100 to 200 then to 300,

300 yards shots 13,14,15 in this string:

I havn't went back to read the old thread but do remember it somewhat well. It may have been misconstruded, but it sounded like you ment everytime. And why it became a joke. I have no doubt you shot a 1" group with three shots at 300 yards one time. I am willing to be you can do it again if you have enough ammo. However, you will have a high stack of papers with larger groups to go with it.

Either way, shooting 12 shots in 1"moa is good. Shooting 3 shots at 1" @ 300yrds is good shooting ask well. I don't care if it was a miracle day and flat calm.. It's still good shooting and good for you.

In either case that is fur in the truck.

I would have loved to have most of you guys with me when i went oversea's when i was there.

Youre right it was misconstrued, I also went back and responded, but the thread died, my reply was an apology for a poorly written post. I also agree it will happen again, but I already have a stack of targets piling up. That are moa ie 3" at 300, but not sub moa 1" sized groups like that posted.... im still working up a consistent load, with a new powder, so I'll try again when I get a one holer load.
