Calling Groundhogs

It might help them come back out of the hole after being shot at a couple times, but they will probably wise up to that pretty quick. It would be neat if it did work. Try it out and let us know.

There are some sounds out there by various companies that are designed to imitate a groundhog in distress, to be used for calling predators such as coyotes and so forth. Never heard of a sound designed to call a actual groundhog.

I've made sounds that aroused their curosity, and made them stand up and look around so I could shoot them, or hopefully peek out of the hole enough to put one in them, but not to actually call them.

Hey Br
I am a WT guy and those sounds are great for yotes also.
But to answer your question, yes they work in two ways.
I am a avid chuck shooter,I will take the caller and put it out about 200 yards and every once and a while I hit the call and a chuck(being the curious little guys that they are will stand up)and well you can figure out what happens next, most of the time I use a cow or pig sound.
Last summer I was set up near a barn and there was a hole 40 feet from me,I was set up and glassing about 30 acres of hay field and I had the caller out,I hit the baby chuck distress and the momma chuck came running out of her hole right by my truck and was standing up looking for the baby,I would do this every hour or so and she would run out the same way,I was having a blast messin with her.!!!
