Calling in mink

Hot tracks

Hey guys and gals I'm new to this forum, and I am looking forward to the knowledge that is sheared here. I was wondering if any one out there has ever called in mink I have seen them in one of my fox hunting spots and was curious if any one had some info on the little guys

I have twice seen mink while calling with a rabbit call. Don't know if I called them in or they just walked up on me?

Yes you can call mink with a rabbit squealer, but they don't usually come running to you like a coyote would. The best way to call mink is walk past a bunch of potential mink dens/hiding spots and squeal the squealer, watching carefully to see if they poke their head out and look around. That's how I used to catch new pet mink when I was a kid.

While coon calling this year with some high pitched bird sounds, My buddy picked up eyes at ground level right off a weedy ditch bed. We closed the distance and the light made the perfect outline of what we thought was a muskrat head. He went ahead and smoked it for the furshed with his 22LR. We went to pick it up and discovered that it was a 30" buck mink!!! That was the first time I have ever seen that. He is getting it full body mounted.
