Camo Face Masks

It looks nice ....but is it easy to see out of,is it light weight so You don't get too hot or feel restricted looking out?Lots of variables to consider when buying a face mask and just letting You know what to look for when buying one.

I have several different face mask that are different thickness and even different colors of camo....some can be a pain in the rear end trying to put on and manipulapte. My Favorite thing to use is a Camo head scarf or camo sock hat and a Kneck tube/gator...I keep the Kneck tube down until I get set up or closer to where I'm slipping in to Hunt and can pull it up over my chin/mouth or all the way up to where just my eyes can see out.

I just bought a Scent Lok face mask from Sportsman's Guide. I don't care about the supposed technology, I like that the adjusters are in the back of the mask. It stays put the whole hunt, is easy to see out of, and leaves plenty of room underneath for handcalls, while hiding your hand.

^^^^This. I've spent a great deal of time/money in search of a suitable headgear to fill my somewhat unique needs. I wear glasses, hunt in a very humid area and perspire heavily. This is complicated by the fact that I use electronic ear muffs when hunting, making it quite a challenge to keep my glasses from fogging after walking in to a stand. (Remove face mask, ear muffs, clean glasses, replace all the gear. By the time all this is accomplished the glasses are usually fogging up again!)

Found this boonie hat which makes removal/replacement of hat/mask much easier, as the skirt has snaps; not to mention the net face mask is much cooler. Not to mention the fact that the netting is opaque and less restrictive to your vision.

hm

All good info, guys.

The back is open on the one I referenced, but a Velcro strap is available to close it. What I don't like about it is it's made of fabric and not mesh. I perspire much like a race horse when the temp is above 70 and I'm active, so not sure I'd like that.

I honestly don't know how easy any of them would be to see out of because I've never worn one.......and I imagine putting one on in the store isn't anywhere near as representative as in the field.

I like the idea of the hat combined with a net..........if the net went over the bill of the hat so it wasn't against the face. And I keep being drawn to the Leafy hoods that break up the outline of the head/body.

Just wish I cold find some of the camo/leafy netting in bolt form so I could cut it and make one myself to go over a hat.

Was my thought also...........which is why I like the idea of a net mask that hangs out "over" the bill of a hat.

A 3/4 face cover is ideal for me. I cut a hole in front to run hand calls with. Cant stand running them up under the mask. Always wear a hat as well.

Looks like it will work. I prefer the Primos 3/4 mask since it allows me to wear a hat of my choice, comes in a variety of colors and scrunches down small to fit in my pocket.

I cut a hole in the net for handcalls too and have the baseball cap style knowing that it multiplies movement when rotating my head.
The boonie style that hm posted will keep the same profile when rotated.

Okay, I'm going to have some fun. I'm sure many of you had tried or successfully done this before, so nothing new here..........just new to me.

I just got back from Academy Sports. Purchased a camo hat.

Also purchased some burlap blind material.

I'm planning on taking a large circle of the blind material and cutting a hole in it the size of the skull part of the hat. I plan on cutting an oval out for my eyes and will reinforce that with some twisty-tie material I use to hold up my tomato plants. That should help keep it from distorting. Will also cut a hole for blowing my Swift call. I'm going to get a skein of camo yarn and cut a bunch of strings to weave into the hood at various places, hoping to add to the texture. I'm also going to make a poncho out of the burlap for my body. I'll cut some arm-holes in it. I plan on making a "scrunchy" rifle cover out of some of it. Also will cut pieces to fasten on my scope with rubber bands.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not positive this will work, but it'll be fun trying and the two items only cost me 20 bucks.

Just got tired of looking at all the various masks and hoods only to find I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Not sure when I'll have the time to work on this project, but I'm in no hurry. Will get back posting in the thread when I get something going.

I really like the "buff" style that I can just wear around my neck and pull up over my face when its time to call.I have had great luck with this company. Their products are GREAT quality and if you enter the promo code screen "5face" they are five masks for $15. They have dozens of designs, just keep scrolling down.

P.S. On one of my orders I got one of the neon yellow masks which I cut in half so that each of my dogs has one around their neck during hunting season. Works great!

Those look great and probably would work for a lot of guys..............but not me. I'd lose 50 pounds worth of sweat if I wore one of those. I wear shorts when it's 50 degrees outside. I'd have a heat stroke in one of those.

May need to think about a lining of some sort anywhere the burlap contacts the skin. Burlap is really "scratchy".

Aware of that and will take precautions. Thanks. I think the only "lining" would be the clothing I'd wear under it.
