My 870. This was my first attempt at painting a gun.

Here was my first attempt at a paint job. It is 4 colors of Rustoleum and some matte clear coat. Thus far (about 3 months) I have only been able to chip a little bit off of the shell deflector.

Nonya, how do you like that new remington?? I picked one up at sportsmans warehouse yesterday....wow did it feel good, the balance of that gun is amazing. hows the accuracy of that barrel?? Just curious

Here's a photo of my .17 Remington. It has an H-S Precision Varminter stock built for a BDL action, so it has the bottom floorplate even though the action is from a Remington 700 ADL. The barrel is a 24" long super match grade 1 in 9" twist, 3-groove SS Pac-Nor. The I installed a Jewell trigger in it and adjusted it to 1 pound of pull.

My gunsmith fluted the barrel and used a reamer from PT&G for the .1945" tight necked chamber. The scope is a Sightron II 6.5-20x50mm side focus model with the duplex reticule. The bipod on the rifle is a Harris 9-13" swivel model with leg notches and it has the Pod-Loc accessory on it as well.

I used Krylon Fusion camo paint on this one. I laid down the base coat of the khaki color and then used my home-made stencils with leaf patterns on them to spray the Krylon camo brown, and some green.

While I did paint the bipod, I still haven't convinced myself to camo the scope, action or barrel /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

The top rifle is an old Rem 788 in 243 that had a million miles on it when I got it. It turned out very good but that is the only picture I have of it.

The lower rifle is a Rem 700 LTR in a McMillan stock. The barrel is 20 inches long and the diameter is Rem Varmint Taper .830 I believe.

Thanks guys I'm glad you like them.

Hey guys those are some nice lookin guns.I have a question BigMo how did you do the print on the stock of that gun?Im gonna get a NEF 223 sometime and would like to put a bobcat print on it somewhere do you have any pointers on how to do this without messing it up?If so I would appreciate it.Also do you use an airbrush and what kind of paint is it?I have no clue how to even get started on painting a gun but its something I would like to do so if you have any info to point me in the right direction that would be great.

ya it's just some spraypaint that i picked up at basspro. it's the hunter's specialty's 4 pack of paint. i used the stencil that came with the kit plus a quick stencil of some grass out of some cardboard.

About the Bobcat print on my rifle.....
I found a track diagram for bobcat on the net printed it out and then traced that over onto heavy constuction paper. I then cut out the print and the section of the paper maybe 6x6 like an index card. I put it on the stock where it laid as flat as posible and held it in place with 2 rubber bands. Keep the can 8 to 12 inches away to help show the detail of the print. Then simply spray the print. Give it a few minutes to dry and remove the print stencil. Waaa La bobcat print

P.S. Do not try to spray the paint thick...it will run under the stencil. Less is more

I used Krylon camo paint I bought at Wal Mart before deer season. Keep it simple 3 colors is plenty IMHO
Krylon will wear off over time but that just gives you an excuse to change it up a little next time. I painted that green stock a couple of years ago and it still looks good to me.
