Do you guys put any kind of finish on your rifles after you paint them, and if you do what kind? I just got done with my rifle, i used Hunter Specialties permanent paint and i feel like it needs some kind of sealer coat or something. Any suggestions?

I like to just breakup the shape and use these out in the sage and sand country.

I'm not Rhys but it is an adjustable comb. The adjustable comb will keep your eye in the same position behind the scope everytime you mount it to your shoulder. Changes can be made also as you change shooting positions prone, bench or offhand. Target stocks can be made in a basic configuration and it can be fitted to you with the adjustable comb and butt plate.

Me and My Friend did a rifle and it turned out really good i dont have the pictures but my friend (predatorkiller) posted them and you guys should check it out

Here's some of mine in the woods, Contender 223, Ruger 77 270 w/ Bell& Carlson stock, and Savage 22-250 w/ Choate stock. The stocks are painted with Rustoleum textured paint and clearcoated with Eastwood Diamond Clear, the textured paint isn't very tough by itself. The actions are all coated with Moly Resin, and the Nikon scope on the Contender has flat black Duracoat.

What do you guys do for prep prior to painting? I have a 870 with black synthetic stock that I would like to paint OD Green... I still love it since I got out of the Army... Thanks, Matt

I use a glass cleaner to get all the oil of the exterior parts before painting...Other than that, I just masking tape the areas I don't want any paint on.

I use rubbing alcohol to wipe down all the surfaces I will be painting. Make sure to let it dry before you paint of course. As a finishing coat I use DURACOAT matte clear coat, but the Krylon matte clear coat works good too. You can usually find it where ever you are buying the Camo paint,it has a nice dull finish and wont shine when you put a light too it.

heres a pic of my old savage 340c in 222.

It's got a crappy scope mount in the pic, but I put a newer B-square mount on it now, much better. Three shot groups at 100 yards you could cover with a quarter. Not bad for a gun that was given to me after it was badly scorched in a fire. Threw a new stock, clip, bi-pod, scopemount and scope on it. Really love the thing now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
