Camo rifles; good idea or another sales gimmick?

Use the wrap and it comes right back off when your done.

Yeah, that works for me. Kill whatever will flash and reflect. If you wear glasses, you should consider a face veil, and be aware of the glare off of the scope objective lens.
As far as a beautiful pattern and matching camo job, that's a little overrated for hunting predators, but it could come in handy for "alternate uses".

I'm just sayin

We determine our "needs" as individuals. So what I think is necessary, someone else may think is a gimmick...

I love the factory camo on my Benelli SBE, not just for aesthetics. The protection it offers from salt spray, mud & snow is excellent. A blued/wood shotgun would be in sorry shape after going through the same conditions, despite up keep...

My ARs have Norrel's coating and bolt rifles have Cerakote coating for the same reason...

Gun camo doesn't have to be pretty to be effective. So long as shine or glare is addressed, it's all pretty much the same, IMHO.

Doing a camo project on a gun is fun and, more importantly, adds to the enjoyment of a successful hunt with your "self camo'ed" gun. I make my own fishing rods, trolling lures and bottom fish rigs by my own hand for the exact same reason. That part has NOTHING to do with gimmick or necessity...

North America is the only market the Camo'd guns have been such a hit. In Europe they wouldn't buy a camo'd gun if it was $100 cheaper. It's amazing that we buy them when they are more expensive.

While I agree with you 100%,,, being like European's isn't much of a recomendation these days.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Having said that,,, I'll have to admit that all of my hunting rifles have wood stocks. I prefer the feel and look of a nice piece of wood, but to each his own...

I know their laws are gay but there are some really nice guns that come out of Europe. I would rather own blued or stainless steel with wood.

Blued Steel and Turkish Walnut is pretty hard to beat... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

While camo dont hurt a thing, it sure aint necessary. I'm sure it sells lots of rifles though (not to me though lol)

Is this barrel stainless or blasted? Maybe it's camo'd...Whatever. This is what a coyote should see once it see's you. If it see's you raising it up to get a bead on it, whether or not it's camo aint gonna make much a difference.
