Camo Vehicle wrap

So I decided that I was sick and tired of looking at all the door dings, small dents and scratches in my 2004 Dodge Diesel. Despite the fact I have had it for 6 years there is only 40,000 miles on this thing which is barely broke in for a Cummins. So replacement was just not practical and I figured a paint job was way too expensive. Then I got the brilliant idea in the pictures below. I apologize in advance for picture quality but the sun was setting and I just did not have enough light. If I get some positive feedback and people want to see more I can take some sunshine photos.

I have to say that the outcome far exceeded my expectations and I am very pleased. The work consisted of the Max 1 3M vinyl wrap, the side window camo film, the rear window Elk mural and the mud gaurd/fender flares. All told I have about $1940.00 into it which probably would not have gotten the front two fenders painted. Feedback welcome.

That looks pretty cool. How long did it take to put on? What would you do differently if you were going to do it again?

I need to do something with that front bumper and the rims. Chrome now looks out of place. Other than that Greg I am pleased as pie. The really nice thing is if I tear a piece on a branch or something, I just match that piece to one of my leftover sheets and patch it. As long as you pattern match you absolutely cant see the seems. You gotta feel them with your hand. Guaranteed by the manufacturer for 5 years and the instillation was certified (done by certified installer) and guaranteed as well. All told, installation time was about 12 hours Greg. He could have done it in one day but he worked at night after work each night so it took him about 4 evenings.

That turned out great. I would really like to do that to mine, I have really worn out my paint job driving through all sorts of stuff that I shouldn't...

Keep us updated as to how it does with brush, I would be interested to know how durable it is.

How are going to get desert pinstriping on that now?

Looks pretty good. Not really my cup of tea, but surprisingly nice to look at. Wheels - powder coat! My brother had the factor wheels of his 2002 Dodge power coated black for about $50 each and they turned out awesome. Not sure about the bumper. If you have the coin, I recommend you scrap the factory unit and put a Ranch Hand full replacement on it.

Looks real good Richie. I used some of that same material to camo my latest AR. It also turned out pretty good, for about $30.

Richie. That looks better now than it did the last time I saw it, and it looked nice then. I would like to see how it holds up to all that Wyoming Sunshine.

Just noticing the background in the pictures, did you move?

As a matter of fact Steve I did. Thats my new Cassa. Not as big as my last house but its actually a 5 bedroom instead of a 4 so I finally got my man room. This one is about 3100 square feet and the other one was 3650 square feet. Quite a bit older house since my last one was brand new. This one was built in 1978 but its rock solid. We like the floor plan much better and so far we are happy with it. Close to the last one too.

And this one has TREES!!!

Looks nice sir, PM me your new address. Dawn and I are off to the Grand Canyon in the morning to celebrate our 25th, I'll catch up with you in a couple of weeks. Tell Cindy we said hi.

PS Yup, you need to black out the chrome.

The kit ran me about $850.00 which is the deluxe kit with 280 sq ft of vinyl. I had plenty left though which is both good and bad. I could have bought a cheaper kit but I have plenty left over should I ever need a patch job. About another $90.00 for the side window film. $500.00 for the instillation by a certified installer. Thats about $1440.00 for the vinyl. Then about another $500.00 for the fender flares and the rear window mural so all total about $1940.00. Alot of money yes, but much, much, much cheaper than a good quality paint job. The Vinyl actually will preserve your paint as well and wont harm it in any way. It needs a good surface to adhere too so rusty old trucks are not good candidates. The finish needs to be completely stripped of dirt, road grime and wax and then rubbed down with alcohol prior to application but my installer included all that work including the removal of any and all emblems.
