Camoing a rifle

I've got a Rem 700, 223 Tactical that I use yote hunting. It's black matte with the Hogue overmolded stock. I'm trying to figure out the best way to camo it. I don't really want to paint it, but would love to hear some other options. Burlap stripping it, ghillie it or something like that.

Just paint it. I just finished my M1A and I'm looking at my 700 next.

Paint it... that way you can do quickie paint jobs for changing environment and seasons.

I have the artistic talent of a barnacle, and I am able to do a reasonably decent job in minutes.

Give it a basecoat, grab a fistful of foliage, hold it against the rifle from different angles and spray some more. Grab some other abstract pattern, and hit it some more with a different color yet.

Nothing to it.

Actually, I would duracoat or one of the other hard permanent finishes. I use Duracoat.

Put the finish on in your choice of permanent basecoat. Once it is cured, all the paint in the world becomes "bowflauge".

I used Duracoat coyote, and then spray over it with Krylon for what ever season I'm in. It builds up, I can wipe it off with thinner.

The thinner doesn't even touch the duracoat.

How many coats are you guessing before the build up is thick enough that you need to remove it with thinner?
I like the idea of quick change for the seasons or areas!

It's going to vary, I don't radically change the colors every time, I change the predominant "accent" color if you will. Last time I went a year and a half I guess.
