Just was thinking of making a ligher projectile. Has anyone had success with these types of projectiles 52's or 53's? Maybe even with 8208 XBR?

I use the Hornady 52 gr BTHP in my AR. It is an excellent bullet. I can consistently get 3/4" 5 shot groups with them. I used them in my 22-250 also with the same results. I was using IMR 4895.

I'm currently running 52gr smk's with 25.5 grs of varget in my 700 tactical with a 1 in 9 twist.. shoots little bug holes at 100 yds from a bench. Shot a 2 in gong at 250 yds a couple weeks ago till it got boring.. This was after a thorough barrel break in, some may not see the need for this, but I'm a believer in breaking in a barrel before load development begins... JMO

Another Great load for me is:

Sierra 52 hpbt
24.7 grains XTerminator
CCI-400
AOL- 2.240
R15

I bought 1000 Nosler 52GR HPBTs as "blems" a few years back and used them in my Remington 700VS in .223.

Propelled by Surplus H335, they shot excellent and made for a nice PD round.

26.0 grains of IMR 4064 with Sierra 52 gr. BTHP Matchkings, was shooting 5 shot groups at 100 yards you could cover with a dime.

With a good rest of course.

I THINK it was pushing it about 3200.

I'll have to look in the book for sure, can't remember right at the moment.

It's not the best choice is every situation, but it works plenty good enough for it's versatility for most every caliber I shoot.

From my 24" Howa 1500...
52gr Hornady Match HP 26.2grs Benchmark 3397fps .428 group
52gr Hornady A Max 26.5 Varget 3110fps .674 group

These are from my book but found better loads with 50 Nosler BT's and 26-27.5grs of Varget.
