canine pup sounds

3rd Alarm

New member
I have been having more dogs called in lately with the coyote pup distress. I have a few questions about the canine sounds and tatics on using them.

1. Should I be using the coyote pup distress this time of year or is it better to use later in the season? Is it a better night or day call?

2. Does the red and grey fox pup sounds work on coyotes as the coyote pup does? If so, what is the best time of year for those sounds? and again better night or day?

3. Do you guys use any kind of decoy with the dog sounds? If so what?

Keep in mind that cats are not on the radar screen at this point, I have only seem one bobcat and they are illegal to shot anyway.

Thanks guys, looking forward to reading your replies!
Marry Christmas to each of you and Happy Hunting!

IN_song_dog_buster,
All of the sounds you mention should be good for calling coyotes all year around. They are prey distress sounds that will work on all of the larger predators.
