Cannon safe questions

If you buy a cannon safe stay away from the electronic lock with a key override,the solenoid bracket bends and you will have to have a hole or holes drilled to open the safe ( just had to have mine done) they said they would send me a new lock (hasn't showed up yet going on 3 weeks)but won't tell me what this does to the fire rating. I now know of 3 others that had the locks fail. As s side note it does get lots of attention at the game farm when clients see it.
 
Not sure of the model of my cannon safe. It about 12 yrs old and they have been out to drill it out twice. They gave the first locksmith the wrong measurements twice and I have 3 holes drilled in mine. The second time they said there wasn't a locksmith in my area and they were going to have to send one from Peoria I'll. I live in the Kansas City area and told them to look in the yellow pages there are several. They put me off for about 3 months because they couldn't find a locksmith in my area.
I would not but another one of there safes because of this but they do look nice until they have to drill on them.
 
S&G DIAL LOCKS, if you het gun oils or solvent on your fingers and tap on the keys of an electronic lock you will leave visible marks. It will also help wear the numbers. Took me four trys to get in a friend of mines. I have mine bolted to the floor with the door set so that it cant be pried on. I have a liberty fat boy from gander mtn. Not fancy but I like it.

not familiar with the cannons. I have a liberty, bought back in 93 or so. been happy with it.

well, except when we've had to move LOL
 
Well I passed on the Cannon and went with a Stack-on 64 gun safe that Manards had on sale for Black Friday - right at half price.
The reviews I have read are good .
The biggest problem is it is a monster - stand 72" high and 40 " wide and I have get it up 2 steps from the garage into the basement .
Any ideas would be helpful.
 
buy some land where you want your new house. Lay the foundation, install the safe & build the house around it

I suggested that to my wife got about the same look as the day I forgot which Walmart I left her at - next suggestion please

Have you ever seen one of those big dollies with the straps that are used to move heavy appliances like refrigerators?
Maybe one of those and a couple of big stout buddies would work?
Just a guess. I have no idea what the steps and entrance look like.

You said that it's 2 steps up?

I would get a furniture dolly.. Large Eye bolt, and come along. Then an appliance dolly (from Uhaul or homedepot).

Use the appliance dolly to get it to the steps, turn it and tip it on it's side so that is fits through the door, onto the furniture dolly.

Then roll it to where you want it, or as close as you can. Then sink the eye bolt into a stud and use the come along to stand it up and then use the appliance dolly to move it into place.

Lay a sheet of plywood on the steps with a towel on it to prevent scratching.

You are also going to need a pack of burgers, buns, and case of beer for the couple of friends you invite over to assist.
