Cant decide 243 or 6.5

Give me a wssm upper and I will.lol

Almost went that route instead but didn’t want to deal with the lack of brass drama including the ridiculous prices. Would be nice to have a lighter rig. If I ever run across a 243 WSSM that’s new for a hop, skip, and a jump, I’ll pick it up. IMO i would not trust a used AR platform in a 243 wssm hi velocity caliber in fear someone would have shot the barrel out. Imo most use ARs get sold because of feeding and or functioning issues along with shot out barrels....a good accurate, reliable AR dose not get sold 99.9% of the time. Between the wssm brass prices and not holding up I’ll pass for now.

243 brass is a dime a dozen so I stick with my heavy ar10.

I traded for a 243 wssm a couple years ago. Brass was an issue, but is not now. I picked up several hundred last winter for $16 per 50. More than enough to burn out a couple barrels, or to leave a few pieces lay if they get lost on the prairie.

I only shoot 87 vmax, just because I have a few thousand of them and they shoot well in everything I have. My load with Varget pushes them at 3250 out of the 1-8 twist 22" barrel with stellar accuracy. I've only shot 2 coyotes with it, and they died. Fast. With very little damage believe it or not.

Feeding is flawless. There really haven't been any issues worth mentioning.

Here's a target, shot at 400 and 500 yards, off sticks with me sitting against the truck tire.

I needed a couple more clicks elevation.

I see the cheap brass is already starting to dry up again for the WSSM. I’ll pass. Not a fan of something I’m gong to eventually have trouble finding brass for...and it will happen again in about a year when everything gets bought up.

First of all, I shoot a DPMS 243 win. The 6.5 Creedmoor is just a 250-3000 renamed.
I shoot 243 Winchester 100-grain soft points, Remingtons.
It does just fine. In the AR-15's I still shoot my 6,8mm Spec II.
I have a good supply of Silver State Ammo.

This, right here. The accuracy I get out of my 6mm Creedmoor surpasses the smallest groups out of my 6.5's. I have an AR in 6.5 and four bolt actions, (Tikka, 2x Savage, and RPR) While they shoot 1/2 MOA, the 6mmCM can put them in one hole at 100 and touching at 200. Factory or handloads, the 6mm is hard to beat. From 55's to 108's.

The only problem I see with the newfangled cartridges is they are all twisted to shoot a bullet the length of my Grandma's Old Mercury. Midway also doesn't carry sub moa varmint 6 mm Creedmoor ammo for $0.53 a piece.
