Can't decide....Ruger vs. Remington in .243

I guess I'll give my $.02 too. If I were going to pick ONLY from the two rifles you listed then it would be hands down the Rem 700. There are a lot of people that can tune that rifle plus it has an adjustable trigger. The Rugers are good rifles but have horrible triggers. BUT if I were going to buy a new 243 then it would be with out a doubt a CZ 550. For about about the same money you will get a great shooter and a fully adjustable, set trigger. The CZ's are catching on for a reason.

I would take the Remington, maybe not an SPS but a Remington for sure. All my stainless Remingtons have held up fine in sleet, snow and rain.
Remington triggers are easy to adjust by yourself and can break easily at 2 lbs with no creep.

Cheers!!

Don't give up on the Ruger because of the trigger. 20 minutes time with a hone and a hardware store spring will fix it fine. I've done 4 of them that way. Aftermarket triggers are in plentiful supply, Rifle Basix, Timney, Moyers and others all make great Ruger triggers. My two Remingtons have done fine, but I really like my M77's.

NO REASON TO EVEN CONSIDER THE RUGER. GOOD LOOKING RIFLE, BUT THE REMINGTON IS A TRIED AND TRUED ACTION. HOW MANY BENCHREST SHOOTERS WITH MODEST INCOME DO YOU SEE SHOOTING A RUGER..IT IS UNHEARD OF. GO WITH THE ACCURACY KING FOR THE COMMON MAN..REMINGTON 700 ACTION ALL THE WAY.
