Can’t Decide — Should I Get This Bobcat Mounted?

Infidel, im sure you have killed enough of them over the years to possibly judge the size of this one from my cell camera but to me it looks pretty big, whats your opinion?... we don't have a hunting season for them unfortunatelyView attachment 26897

If there was ever one to get mounted, that’s the one. Most of ours are rabbit backed, I do catch a nice rosette one every now and then. In fact, I have one in my freezer for a guy now and it’s rosette’s aren’t as pronounced as that one is, and definitely isn’t that size either.

I'm at the stage in life that I'm done having anything else mounted.
That's something to think about, alright. I think the last thing I had mounted was a bobcat and that was about a dozen years ago.
Just got through liquidating them all, except for one set of Gemsbok horns. Gave most away; trust me, definitely not a good investment ;) unless you take into account the years of enjoyment you get from them and that's priceless. :D

My living room is stuffed. I had the 3 caribou on the wall for 20 years, and finally sold them, along with one half mount P&Y black bear, and one tanned P&Y black bear hide.

I don't seem to have a current pic, but my living room is 21'x13'x8' tall, and there is six whitetail shoulder mounts, one mulie, one antelope, one Stone Sheep, One Dall Sheep, four life size black bear, and one life size 9'3" Alaskan Brown Bear.

I have one easy chair to sit in to watch TV.....😛

Nice! Somehow, I picture you parting heavy foliage in order to watch TV. ;)
Those are some really good looking caribou, Alf.
I ended up selling one whitetail deer and a couple of scimitar european mounts, giving away a couple of nice whitetail mounts and my bobcat. Don't know what the rest brought but I think they had them priced too high in estate sale. Know they didn't sell the first two days, so probably went for peanuts. Oh well, I got a lot of joy out of them for many years and a lot more from the ones that I gave away which all went to someone who appreciated them.(y)(y)

My feelings on mounts are that they are mine to enjoy and that is that ;). WAAAY to many archery whitetails and one 30# bobcat plus some flat skins. Had a turkey mounted before I became a taxidermist that I never liked and it is in our daughter's 2nd grade classroom. Those little kids aren't much taller than the gobbler😊.

That's a beauty, tough call on the mount.

1st thought is to get it tanned, which will give you some time to mull it over.

That, & I'm out of room......🙂

I said that too about getting anything mounted, I do my own euro mounts on my deer.

i bet it cost a pretty penny to get those bears done.

yes. i look back at everything ive got mounted and dont regret any of them. I had some smaller racked whitetails, but I found a taxidermist that could switch out the antlers when i got bigger ones. you cant tell they were switched. now i just euro mount
Shoot, why not just mount the pair? :) I'll be your enabler.

yeah that other cat is about as plain as they come. I already gave it away:)
