Carlos Hathcock

On another thread I mentioned something about Carlos Hathcock being proud of the surgical air strike in Iraq. As you may, or may not know, Carlos was one of the all-time great snipers for the American military. There are several books written about him, but I would recommend the two books written by Henderson. They are both in paperback and available online. Check Amazon.com.

I assure you, once you start reading either of these two books you will not be able to put it down. In reading of his long range kills, his stalking abilities, his absolute courage, I get "goose bumps".

Carlos Hathcock, a great shooter, a great AMERICAN!

I think you may have him confused with either his son or grandson, Jim (also military "shooters). The Carlos Hathcock died on my birthday, Feb 23, 1999.

The Marine that taught my son and I hunter safety met Carlos in Quantaco (sp) in '97 I believe and said he was a great guy in person too. Hard to believe that was ten years ago(hunter safety) and now Carlos has been gone seven years.
Don, the instructor passed away a few years ago and was a great shooting coach for the youth team in Waukesha WI.
I've read at least one book about Carlos and WOW.
Not sure if that's what got me interested in long range shooting but hope to have my MOA in 6.5x284 ready for an antelope hunt in WY this Oct. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Leon -- I am talking about the "late" Carlos Hathcock and his efforts in Viet Nam.

I met him and he signed my book back in the early 90s. I'm reading Silent Warrior now. Excellent books and a helluva Marine. I still have one of his White Feather T-Shirts.

I beleive his son, Carlos III, is a moderator on a long range shooting forum.
