Well, I've got a mouth call but I'm wondering about those Cass Creek calls. I'm on a very limited budget so the expensive calls aren't an option for me.

Does anyone use the Cass Creek calls and do they work well? I'm trying to hone my calling skills but I'm wondering if one of these might do well until I get any good.

I like them. One of my friends has one. Has great sound. Only wish it had more volume. but the amount it has would be sufficient i suppose. Unless you are calling coyotes from marathon distances. lol. If you dont want to go in the hole on an electronic unit, I HIGHLY recommend the Johnny Stewart Preymaster. $150. Not to bad I think. Has plenty of volume, variety of sounds, and excellent sound quality. Great unit.

Sorry, but the cass creek calls are just not a wise investment. Very cheap and really not effective in my opinion. They provide very little help.

For the price and the size, a great deal. I don't own one but want to. A friend has one and we have called in critters with it many times.
I really want one just for hiking in to remote areas to call bobcats. Very small and light. Not a whole lot of volume but the bird sound is great for cats.
The only thing I don't like is you have to keep pushing the start buttom. It only plays each push for a short time.

I agree with Predator Paul. A major mistake in calling alot of times is to much volume, especially with cats.

There are ways to increase the volume. Cass Creek actually sells a remote speaker with like 50 ft of wire which is also an amplifier.

I am a FoxPro guy, but I am not gonna knock the Cass Creek call due to price and sound.

Patience and lower volume go along way sometimes.

I'm new to this too, but I have the Cass Creek Caller and like it so far. I did go to Radio Shack and buy a Music Power HOrn for $39.00. It allows me to plug the CCcall into it for added volume, and I can also plug my little tape player in it. As Pruson & Predator Paul said, Volume Control seems to be important, and I don't like having to keep pushing the button over and over on the CC Caller, but hey it's only 20-25 bucks has multiple sounds and sounds decent enough.... It'll work. I'm happy with it until funds allow me to step up to a FoxPro.

i have both the predator and the predator 2 both have called in coyotes the #1 i think called in a cat but i didnt get a shot as i was driving away. i think for 19.99 not bad investment i bought one of the remoat speakers trying to get the sound away from my position think it works only prob i have is its too easey to leave it on and eat a set of batterys in the remoat speker.

jrsower,Try using the search feature in the E-callers forum. There are dozens of threads and reviews on the Cass Creek.mostly positive feedback.after reading all that good stuff i went out and bought one 2 weeks ago.I've only tried it on 3-4 stands,no luck yet.Of the five sounds,I like the jackrabbit and pup whines best.Cottontail is so-so,kinda tinny/mettalic sound to me.Coyote howl sucks, very cheap sound and no volume.I don't know what to make of the "fawn distress".I like the sound, but it sounds more like a bird than a fawn IMHO.I modified mine as suggested in other posts by cutting away alot of the speaker grate with dremel tool and it did increase volume.I also took it into Radio Shack and tried it with small KOSS speaker/amps,similair to what Cass Creek sells, but didn't find much if any increase in volume. The volume is acceptable I guess.I would think a pred should here it at 4-500 yds or more in calm conditions.
