Caught on Cam: Teen jumps into large fish tank at Bass Pro Shops

DENVER (KCNC/CNN) – A Denver teenager could be facing charges after he jumped into the main aquarium at Bass Pro Shops.

A now-viral video shows the teen leaping from a ledge about 30 feet high and hitting his head Saturday.

Witnesses said his friends recorded the stunt that went horribly wrong.

Teens have posted video on social media of others pulling the same prank at different stores across the country.

"I think it's the wrong thing for them to do, you know, because of the ecosystem that it upsets,” said customer Doug Hammond.

Bass Pro Shops brought in an animal care team to assess the fishes’ health, and said they’re doing okay.

“Our associates and security team quickly addressed the issue safely and without incident,” said Bass Pro Shops in a statement. “We also appreciate the assistance of local law enforcement. Such occurrences are extremely rare and highly discouraged”

As for the teen, there is no word on his condition.

The company said it wants to prosecute the teen to the fullest extent of the law.

Denver police said the teen has been ordered to meet with detectives in the coming week to discuss what happened.

Those boys should be made to work after store hours cleaning the restrooms, ect. for thirty days. Give them a little better understand of the word "consequences."

maybe scrapping gum off the parking lot, with a butter knife.

It would have been funny if he pulled it off and while in that tank did a little noodling for one of those hog cat fish they have. I know i am not the only one that has thought they would love pull out one of those beasts.

If he could have hauled one up and climbed out and held it for a pic to hang on the wall of pride there. That would be really funny. (of course put it back after getting the pic)

Kids today have to record everything, but lack creativity and finesse. I would bet that some of us here would have been tempted to sneak in at night, catch one, then take a photo and post it on the board as a joke when we were kids.

Of course the fish are fine. They normally live in ponds.
