CCW for large hands?

Forgot to add, I too carry in cargo pants pocket and it works great with a Nemesis holster. Another good holster option in hot weather or when not wearing cargo pants is a Sneaky Pete. You might check those out. I just never could get used to IWB carry.

I could "train" myself to point it correctly. Or get a pistol that points where my eye is looking. Now I am not saying you don't have to use your sights, but you can go handle a few guns and some will fit better than others.

Different brands of shotguns, rifles, pistols, are all built differently than others. Some suit an individual better than others.

If I have been running an AR, and then switch to a TS Ruger or a Rem 700 with an M24 style stock some adjustments in shooting style are needed. I get that, for sure. I just don't want to do it at 1:30 am or while holding a shopping cart in a crowded Wally world.

the G42 and 43, Ruger LCP are some SMALL guns. I do like them but if the concern is a gun for larger hands you really should handle & if possible shoot them. those glocks are single stack, very slim & the grips are nothing like the larger models. you may end up liking how they feel, just be aware that they feel very different.

FWIW, I have a friend who had the ruger & the trigger absolutely sucked. after shooting that one I decided I wouldn't buy one. now, that was 5+ years ago and I think they did improve the triggers since then, but it shows that actual shooting is pretty important in personal evaluation.

I had a G42 I really liked, I added a Hyve +2 extension and it fit my hands perfectly...be aware that the slide release is a real dickens to operate, i added am extended version to mine.

I wear an XL glove, and I find that my G20 gen 3 fits my hand nicely. Obviously I am not going to CCW a fullsize pistol, but a trigger that lands at the middle knuckle cannot be good for accuracy.

I am open to or revolver. Any suggestions?

Glock 26.

I agree that the single stacks will be "different" if you have big hands, but if weight is a concern, there is not much substitute when carrying IWB.

I have a G43 and HK VP9, world of difference in grip comfort and carry comfort. They are complete opposites on that front. I have carried both, but I think the G43 will get more time, just because it's easier and I don't like wearing heavier clothes to conceal the larger pistol. I shot a lot of single stack 9mms and none of them were all that comfortable in my hand, but that's life; trade-offs.

HK makes a VP9SK that is a little larger than American subcompacts, but uses the same grip inserts as the full size pistol I think. I haven't held one yet, but I bet it would be great.

I ccw here in Vegas and always iwb carry. Probably because I never wear shorts. More of a jeans and work boots kind of guy. I have a gen 1 g27. IMHO, still to big for a pocket carry. I prefer a single stack for ccw purpose. A few years ago I switched to a S&W bodyguard 380. To small even for my small hands but a dream to carry. I tried a s&w featherweight snubbie 38. Didn't care for the grip, the natural point or much anything else about it including the size.
I now carry a S&W shield performance center 9mm with big dot night sight. Plenty of grip space with the extended magazines and still narrow and light enough for everyday/all day carry.

You can see what I did to my Glock 19.
I added to the grip. It keeps my hand below the slide.
Glock 17 magazine with spacer, I load 8 rounds.
A new trigger. Great trigger pull and reset.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I think I will be ok if I can't get my pinky on the grip.Think I should also add the Kahr p380 and the 9mm version to the short list.

Since I got my CCW I have been carrying a lot of commander sized 1911s, either a Springfield RO Champion in 9MM or a Colt Combat Commander in 45.

Kahr is owned by the Moonie Cult leader's son, Justin Moon. I bought one before I knew that. PM40 black, had a PM9 before that. Awesome guns for pocket carry!! Kahrs rock! But I am getting rid of it soon. No cult guns for me.

Carried a Lightweight Commander .45 for years. Really excellent genre of personal defense weapon if you're into 1911's.

They sure know how to party!

. I've owned two Kahr K9 handguns. They were great little guns, in the stainless steel mode the K9 is a heavy little dude. Depends upon the purpose and the person, the weight could be an issue.

Lighter guns are clearly prefered for CCW, which is why you like the Lightweight Commander. The all stainless version not so much. Kahr's polymer versions the P9 and PM9 are slimmer, smaller, and lighter than pretty much anything out there.
