Dropped of my Rem 223AI for a cera-coat finish in FDE. They said a week and a half turn around time, already getting anxious. Hope it turns out good.

It should. I am real happy with the Creakote on my 7 RM. It is some tough stuff!! This is 'Tac Grey'

Mine was done by Crusader Weaponry in Salt Lake City.

223Pete, If you are close to the Rapid City/Sturgis area, give Chad Dixon a holler. He's in Sturgis, and a great smith from every account I have seen. I haven't personally used him...YET!!

Hydro Customs out of Catoosa Okla in doing mine. $140.00 for the barreled action,if you want the stock done its $80, $95 for dipping the stock. The more you have done, the better the prices.

Wow! That is a very nice looking finish. What did they charge you, if you don't mind?

I told the guy doing mine I might add a bolt handle later. He said $10-$15 bucks if he had to mix paint, free if he was doing some the same color. Thats cool.

pahntr760, love that tac grey! Was the finish blasted and then baked on? Sorry I am not familiar with how they do this but man that rifle looks nice!!

They Pre blast the metal to promote adhesion. I'm not sure of the grit, but it isn't too rough. A nice texture but not like an SPS rough.

Psyco,

That is a good deal when coating the bolt knob. Kampfeld quoted me $10 extra to coat the knob if/when I get mine done.

Get your arse home asap! and a bullet for him!!!!!

I got the Remmy back this evening. Looks real good. I'll just have to discibe it till I figure how to post pics again. I can download from camera to computer but from computer to photobucket, they just don't get there. Anyway:

Remmy 700, 223AI, 1/9 Shilen @20 inchs done in Flat Dark Earth CeraKote. Bell and Carlson M-40 Tactical stock in tan w/black webbing, and a big ole 3.5x15x50 NightForce NXS on top. Purdy!! And only a 5 day turn around time.

Aluminum oxide media is used to blast parts to be coated with Cerakote. Adhesion is better with an irregular, faceted surface than it is with a smoother, glass bead blasted surface.
