cfe 223

Any one try CFE 223 in a 223 Tikka T3 Lite? I tried some test loads in my tikka today starting at 27.o 27.5 28.0 and 28.5 pushing a 52 grain Hornady HPBT. The results were very dissapointing. This gun will shoot 1/2 inch groups with accurate 2230 and the same bullet. Haven't been able to find Accurate 2230 so thats the reason for trying CFE 223. Thanks

I believe cfe is much slower than 2230, probably better suited for the heavier bullets. My back order of cfe223 that I've been waiting on for over a year finally shipped. I would imagine 2230 would be easier to find

I have found CFE to be very slow burning, but consistant. It gave very close volecity numbers on my 5 shot strings in the Grendel. I've tried it in several rifles and it's "claimed" top muzzle velocities are all hype. It was not anywhere near advertised MV's in any of the loads I tried.

I use CF&E 223 for reloading in for my Howa 223. Using 53 gr. V-max. It is my coyote, PD load. At 100 yards the bullets holes all touch. I also working up a load for 50 spire points. At max. load it is looking promising. Just need the time to get out and shoot at 200,300 etc. I just bought 8 more pounds. It is available at Scheels and I really like the results with my rifle. Rudy

Use it in 2 different 22-250's shooting 50 gr. bullets. Fast and accurate in the 22-250, but just run of the mill in 17 Rem, 204, 223, or 243 for me.

my rra predator pursuit shoots varget & cfe equally well .375 to .250 with sierra 53gr. match kings. have not chronograph it yet, but hodgon says cfe is faster.

Turkeyguy, Benchmark is a good powder for your bullet weight. Its what i shoot in 2 of my .223s
I did have to switch to a mag primer though.

Benchmark and the 223 were made for each other. Before I started thinning the herd considerably I was loading for 4 223s and 25.5 grs Benchmark and a 53 Gr Vmax shot well in all of them.

I have good results with the h335 in my .223 1-9 twist 53 grain v-max, 3,640 its hot and groups well, the 40 g v-max shoots even better groups, 3,853 fps w-335, even w- the 1-9 twist, hope that helps?

In my 223 and my 22-250 I did get higher velocity than with other powders but it is very temp sensitive. You may loose a few hundred fps in cold weather or exp. high pressure in hot weather, I don't use it for that reason.

Sounds good, not all work loads work well for everyone, that's what works for me, w-my app, climate, and weapon used. Thanks.
