Chainsaw

I've had a Stihl Farm Boss since the 80's also, I have put a whole sum of $20 into it for repair (which was minor). Only replaced the spark plug one time in all them years.

90% of the loggers here use the Stihl line also.

I'm pretty sure failing to start has nothing to do with the bar nor the chain.

Thats a sign of poor maitinence, any saw, regardless of brand will fail to start if you dont take care of them,Stihls included.

I got my Husky used about 15 years ago for $275.00, cut loads of wood with it. Sold it to a guy for $250. that blew it up, he got it rebuilt, he got broke and sold it back to me for 250. LOL
I keep 6 chains. 3 at home and three at the sharpening guy, I can change chains far faster than I can sharpen one. I sharpened my own for years and can do it just fine, The ones from the shop just cut better, throw bigger chips. I can usually get 5 or 6 cord out of a chain before I need to change it. costs $5.00 bucks to get a job done that takes me 30 minutes, that just dont pay.
my opine

We do landscaping and use stihls and huskys, Ill tell ya over the years the stihld have outlasted the huskies. Both are good. Even the little poulan for the money is alright.

Thats why Stihls cost $100 more per bar size, they are a better saw but your gonna pay for it,for the normal guy who cuts a few cords of firewood and some brush every year a Huskie is you best buy.

Offset that with cost of the oil it spew's out while sitting idle and the cheepo chain they run, The blade you have to replace when the oiler craps out and you could get a real saw!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Go Stihl or go broke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Thats amazing,I must have the only two Huskies ever made that last for 4 and 9 years so far,I replace chains when they have been sharpened down to the core and bars when bent,I have rebuilt the carb on my 9 year old one once.I burn wood, cut logs for furniture and cabins and I take the occasional thinning job,my 9 year old saw has more hard hours on it than any of your Stihls and its still running strong, the saw belonged to a full time sawyer before it was given to me and I put 3 years of full time thinning on it before I bought one with more hp and a longer bar,I still use it for small work like firewood, used it last Fri to make a set of 4 wheeler ramps from rough cut pine,it was 10 degrees and it fired on the third pull.If you have a huskie and it doesnt run properly its user error, not poor construction.Oilers (crap out) when you let them get dirty and plugged,Huskies come with Oregon bars and chains get replaced at least once a year on mine.Im not saying they are better than stihls but mine run just as good as any Stihl made and they cost quite a bit less, use Opti 2 and you will never have to rebuild a acarb or have a saw that wont start.I can show you hundreds of acres that were thinned with my huskies, more than one cabin that was built using them and hundreds of cords of fire wood burned that i cut with them,my saws get USED and they havnt let me down yet.Store ANY saw over the winter without draining or using Opti 2 and your going to have carb problems, let oilers get plugged on ANY saw and you will be replacing bars and chains, they all have the same basic components, bout the only difference is the color of the case, price and the name on it.

I've used both for years. I'll take the stihl any day.
some people like stew, I like steak. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Why pull your guts out trying to start a saw that is finicky when you could have a Stihl. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mine start on the third pull in 10 degree weather, once again, you take of your equipment its going to start.Small engine repair shops love you guys.

I'm going to put in a vote for Jonsered.

What is sold near you? Jonsered, Husqvarna, or Stihl? For an occasional use saw I think you'd be hard pressed to fault any of them.

Any saw should start when it is that warm out. Try starting one in the cold.

What were you getting fixed when they told you that they loved us?/ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
