Chassis Stocks Mcree, XLR, ect.

Hello all again, I've been contemplating with some buddies about getting a chassis system for my new custom build. I've shot the Mcree several times, and I also wanted to get some thoughts on the XLR chassis system.

I have considered Mcmillian, and Manners, and though they are not out of the question, I know they will be a little bit more due to the building of the stock and bedding. Basically I wanted to get some pros/ cons on using the chassis stock system vs. Mcmillian/Manners.

I believe the main hold up on the Mcree system for me is the ergonomics. I really like the feel, and look of a traditional Manners TA or Mcmillian A5, but the Mcrees and XLR's do look pretty slick.

Thanks for any help with this situation, I would just like some input from other shooters who have/shoot these chassis systems.

I've only shot the XLR (which I really like) so I can't be a whole lot of help. BUT, I just saw a video last night of the "chassis" that Magpul is coming out with this year and would have to throw that into the mix.

I have 3 Mcrees. I absolutely love them. They can be adjusted for a perfect fit, and you can hang whatever you want off of them, rails, nv hoods, whatever. I've had my barreled actions out of the stock and if you torque them back in to the same ft lbs, the zero is dead nuts on. Can't beat them for the price. I've been running them on my long range match rifles for a few years and they are so dang comfortable that nothing else feels right anymore. I had to put one on my 17" 223 as well.

Awesome, I like the XLR but I believe I would have to go with the Element. I don't want the AR style Tube on the forend, but I am running a Heavy Varmint contour Bartlein on my rifle, and Im wondering if they have the straight taper like the mcree, or if you have to order it to your contour. Can anyone verify?

It looks like once you get all the options on an xlr that the manners chassis system already includes your going to be darn close on money.

I've got a Heavy Varmint Bartlien in 6.5x47 in a Mcree. Those HV are just that, heavy buggers. Just an FYI if you are interested in the Mcree or any of the others for that matter, they pop up on Sniper's Hide classified all the time. I scored a brand new Mcree folder for $535 shipped a couple of weeks ago.

On the lower end of the price scale...McRee Hunter, XLR Element, or KRG X-Ray. Magpul's new stock looks promising. It comes down to weight, features, and price. Can't go wrong with any of them though.
