cheap 22-250?

hey guys im looking to buy a cheap bolt action 22-250 i reload so can fine tune some rounds but want a cheap rifle scope ideas are welcome to thanks
 
Just got my dad a Savage Axis with a Bushnell 3-9x40 for a little less than $350. I had some 50 grain v-max with 35 gr of Varget loaded up and will shoot less than 1 inch groups at 100 yards.
 
Try to find one of the newer marlin xl7 heavy barreled rifles the one I have shot have been very accurate , nearly all loads were a inch or less in a couple different guns , our sporting goods store had them for 399.00 but you can surly find them cheaper. Stocks aren't the best but they are piller bedded
 
I've got the Savage Axis in .22-250. I bought mine for $280 but had to put a scope on it. I think it's a darn good shooting gun for the price. The biggest downfall on the axis is the trigger, but I think there's some triggers available for it now. It's ugly as sin but I have a rifle that I can beat the crap out of in the woods and its still accurate. Good luck on the purchase!
 
I have heard a lot of good about the Savage Axis except for the trigger. You might look at the Ruger American also. I have not heard much about it, good or bad.
 
IMO cheap is not the way to go in guns. All the plastic parts make me want to throw up. Save a little while longer and get a gun your proud to own, I promise you will enjoy it more in the long run.
 
Get a marlin XS7VH in 22-250 and throw a boyds stock on it if you don't like the plastic. Along with a new trigger guard gun stock and metal guard run ya less then 500
 
I have a axis in 223 that has become my go to calling rig. Its shoots great, and is light weight. Pretty it is not, but the fur it stacks up is beautiful!!
 
I have a Stevens model 200 and it shoots great. I'm using the cheap Midsouth 55 grain Varmint Extreme bullets and getting sub 1" groups. I see new ones for under $350.

The gun shop I use told me that the American wasn't chambered for 22-250 yet. Do you know something that they don't? Hope so, those are supposed to shoot like the M77.
 
The Ruger American is not chambered in .22-250. You'd have to go with a .243.

I have the Savage Axis stainless and there is no beating them for cost to accuracy ratio. The main objections to the Axis tend to come from people who paid much, much more for guns that don't shoot as well.

The trigger on my Axis came set at a 10 pull average of 7.4 pounds. After doing the simple trigger job that is published in numerous places on the net, I got it down to 3.5 pounds.

The rifle easily shot 1 inch with several types of factory ammo. That is 5 shot groups.

If you REALLY find that you don't like the non-adjustable factory trigger, then Rifle Basix and other makers make a drop-in fully adjustable replacement for $89 (Basix) or others for less than $100.

I shot friends 223 and 243 savage axis both were shooting 1 inch with factory.
I bought the savage xp hunter with nikon scope 22-250. It shot 1 inch with hornady factory 50 vmax. Now after a little over a hundred handloads it just stack them up. My load is cci primer 37grains rel 15 and a 52 grain sierra match king running 3650

My mistake, I thought it did come in a 22-250. I wish it did.
 
I agree, cheap is not always the best way to go. I would probably go the used route and try to find a good Rem.700
If you like the Savage have been hearing good things about the Axis, good bang for the buck.
 
I have a Savage Axis XP in Camo .223 Bolt-Action,great looking Gun in my opinion and it shoots very well,the 3X9X40mm Bushnell Scope Package is very nice,good clear glass and a larger dial on it for going from 3X up to 9X with Hunting Gloves on.

Out of the Box I was shooting great groups starting out at 50 yards then dialed in out dead center at 100 yards.

I believe the Savage Axis comes in .223,.243,.22-250,25-06,7mm-08,.270,.308 and 30-06!All in Right or Left handed Models too!

I agree...just sighted my axis 223 in with cheap ammo and it's amazing!
 
If your wanting to go cheap the Savage Axis is the only way to go. My wife has the package deal in .22-250 and its a great shooting gun. Under an inch at 100 yards with Wichester white box 45gr. $315 out the door for hers and would do it again in a heartbeat. The Stevens is also a great rifle for a little more money. Savage is the only way to go in my opinion.
 
I recommended the 22-250 Axis to a new coyote hunter and after some trigger time with it...I like it.

Factory trigger was terrible... did the quick spring clip and now it's pretty nice. Very light rifle, feels good, shoots sub moa(I'm sure not all day long 5 shot groups) and has a decent trigger now.

When I get some extra coin I'm gonna pick one up too.
