Check out what UPS did to my Mark V !!!!!

No surprises here!! I am a FFL dealer who does business over the Internet only. They broke two guns on mine. One was a $1000.00 Kimber rifle which was insured. They would not stand good on the claim. They gave no reason as to why. Several FFL's in my area have had guns go missing shipping UPS. Why?? Their workers are theives!!!!! Last year a UPS worker was arrested in New York for tossing guns over a fence to one of his buddies. They caught him on video. I will never ship anything UPS again!!!
 
UPS does about 85% of the delivery market. The law of averages does work against them. What about all of the stuff that they do right?

Yeah, I'll admit I've never received anything broken (mostly due to it being packed correctly), and nothings ever gone missing (yet).

I sure wouldn't ship an expensive firearm in a flexible styrofoam coffin and expect it to get there without damage 100% of the time. I'd be asking Weatherby if that wasn't a concern of their's. In my opionion, they're about 80% at error in this mess. How much would it havt to sandwich that pack with a couple pieces of 1/4" ply?
 
Been there, done that.

They gave me a check and I replaced the stock with a McMillian. Shipped the action etc back to the smith, and got it back with a messed up scope!

I've seen gun packages that were demolished when they arrived at the gunsmith. The rifle broken and barrels to be installed were gone.

A barrel was sent to me in a heavy PVC tube, capped/sealed at both ends. It arrived with one end broken off and no barrel. Somebody at UPS wound up with that barrel, it had to go somewhere.

Plastic 8lb jugs of powder have arrived punctured through the box, and that plastic is really tough.

I've had things sent from Hart that got here badly damaged and over the phone they told me about one incident. This was some years back......Hart had built 2 benchrest guns for customer. They were sent UPS in a guncase, which was in it's box, the whole thing was very well sealed. Other things were sent in a second package. The second package got there but the gun-package disappeared. Hart talked with UPS who didn't much care until Hart told them the package was insured for $7000......that got their attention. Next day that gun package was delivered to the customer. Somebody knew where to look. And strangely....inside the cardboard package that new guncase had paint splashes on it that weren't there when it was packed. There's thievery and carelessness at UPS and there are people who know what's going on. UPS could do something about it if they really gave a crap.

I've become paranoid. Sending a rifle I'll disassemble it and use a package that isn't rifle-sized.

I will never ship ANYTHING that I dont have to with UPS again. I have sent my rifle to the gunsmith for repairs twice... Both times they went TO him, I used Fedex... I tried to tell him this and to get him to do the same but both times they came back broken! Once with the stock broke in half like you see above, and the other the turret was knocked so far out of whack that it now sits non flush, and was knocked off the gun!
 
Tell them you have a whole bunch of brothers out there (here) that use their service and refer them to this site to prove your point. How they handle your claim could determine whether or not some of us, me anyway, ship via UPS in the future. Keep us (me) posted. Complete replacement is what I would expect if it were me!
