Time to check feeders today as I have not been to the lease in about 2 months. Been fishing and other things.
I got there right before daylight and the first thing I see going g to the Rand is that the solar panel is hanging from one of the feeders. I get into the stand after spraying some wasps and wait for light and the feeders to go off if they do. I got to thinking they may still be on old time, and sure enough t they were set for 7am old time (8am now, so a full 2 hours after shooting light. So as I I was waiting I saw 3 deer and one looks like he is going to be a dang good buck. Then 3 more deer come out at the other feeder so I figure they are about to go off. Then about 7:20 (real time) I see 2 hogs crossing my land behind one of the feeders. Before I can get on them they are gone. I stayed ready and another smaller boar pokes his head out. I 60 vmax below the corner of his eye out him to sleep.
I stayed ready for a minute or so and pulled the gun back into the stand. Should have left it out, as a few minutes later 4 more small hogs cross just past where the dead one lay.
After I few minutes I get down to go see when the feeders are set, because they still have not gone off. That’s when I see they are set for the old time. I sat until they went off, but nothing showed. So I went for the truck, sprayed my stands with pesticide to take care of future wasps and spiders, reattached the solar charger, and sprayed round up in the high grass blocking my view to one of the feeders and reset the timers to real time going off 6:30 so I don’t have to waste time waiting next time.
I then drove to my other stand to do the same things. I found one of my hanging feeders that I had let run fry of corn had it’s let’s spread out to where the feeder was only about a foot off the ground. These are heavy pipe legs , and in over 10 years of this set up never had that happen. So, next time I will be putting some short T post stakes on it.
Looks like I will need to be refilling the feeders in a week or so before they run out.
