I agree with that Neffquail. I just feel that we are a country built on law. The rule of law must be followed.

I would like to flog to death anyone I know is guilty of crimes like we are talking about. But that's my emotions taking over. If it happened to my kids I would be on death row.

But as a country with many flaws in our justice system and society we should dispence justice with a heavy heart and a clear mind.
 
NYnovice, maybe there is some emotion involved in my thinking. Thats what this country needs is alittle more emotion and less lawyers. Like the pace commercial says "Get a Rope". I also agree with Robb that no Innocent man should be euthanized. Robb asks how do you know that they are really guilty, most cases it is decided by a jury of your peers. Yes, there have been some innocent people convicted of crimes that they did not do, but there has been a whole lot more that have been found guilty that were guilty. Remember our Justice system isn`t perfect but I don`t think it needs to work in the favor of the crooks either sure mistakes are going to be made but aren`t mistakes being made right now? A big majority of the ones that were found to be innocent and let go have done some other crime and were not caught and punished for it. My mom use to have a solution for this problem when me and my brother were together and did something wrong, instead of asking questions she whipped both of us that way she made sure she got the right one, then she would say well if you didn`t do it then it was for something else one of us did that we didn`t get caught for.

I don`t know about our justice system seems backwards at times. Take the the Waco incedent with David Kouresh and all the people suing the Federal Govt for there deaths is that right, all they had to do was put down there weapons and surrender but no they chose their faith now they and their family members need to live with it. I love this country but it is getting time for a change in the way things are done.

Like someone else stated. I too have 4 girls and if someone did something to one of them they will be prosecuting me and not him. That will be a shame but thats the way it will be. Who knows maybe I could get off on an insanity plea. If you get down to it no sane person could ever commit such horrendous crimes and live with their self.

just think what would you do if it was one of your kids tat was made to do this stuff if it was one of mine im real sure i would like to spend about 5 minuts in the same cell with al of them im lucky my kids are grown but priest--cop man or woman ect it would make no diferance ----------just 5 minuts

The thing that most people don't realize is that prosecuting attorneys usually only offer plea bargains in cases that are lacking in evidence, and they are afraid that the criminal will not be convicted of the original charge.

Regarding sexual predators in the priesthood, the church has made a grave mistake in hiding these predators and not turning them in for prosecution. To allow these sicko priests to continue being in leadership positions is very wrong. Kick those wierdos out of the church and turn them over to law enforcement. Zero tolerance policy is badly needed here.

But I also feel that because a absent minded cop forgot to read the rights to the criminal shouldnt mean that they shouldnt be prosecuted, small loopholes like these are what sets some of the criminals free, and it's wrong. I have never been a cop but I can still recite word for word the miranda rights, too much TV?? Probably, but I'm not a criminal, and I know them, so surely the criminals know them... LOL

I just dont think something so major as a capital offense should be dismissed on something so trivial as someones rights were not read to them, or that the authorities illegally obtained evidence... By the way, how do you illegally obtain evidence?? How can it be considered illegal evidence if it is actual evidence collected from the suspect or his home or vehicle??

Speaking of O.J. Simpson, when he supposedly tried the leather gloves on, the jury should have been informed that leather shrinks after its been wet and dried, and they may have, but O.J. mocked the court in his actions and facial expressions when trying on "HIS" gloves...

Rob, I think that it is VERY unfortunate that any human being receive the death penalty and die for a crime that they did not committ. I do not promote that thought or notion in any way. I am saying that taking all of the trials and lawyer scum bags out of the picture, a person that is indeed guilty of such a horrific crime should be put to death. When I say horrific crime I am talking about the scenario that NeffQuail told us about. I admire you for having such a " be sure they are guilty " attitude. Nobody deserves to be punished for a crime that they did not committ. That is our lawyer scum bag legal system for us like Rich said. Not fool proof for sure. If the person TRULY committed the crime of child molestation / rape they should take a permanent DIRT NAP. I do not have any children, but if I did and someone did this to them, I promise I would be on the stand and they would be in hell. No questions, no hesitations.


On another note . Many a poor man has taken the fall for a rich man. I think this is where the stats come from with the innocent people being put to death. Life is just another rich man's war and another poor man's fight. In the Civil War soldiers from SC were among the first to be walked into a slaughter. ( fighting a fully equipped Army with cannons and guns, with axes and shovels. Attempting to keep their land and their lives. ) It was one of the poorest states at the time and still is. Interesting?
 
I agree with limited appeal and rapid punishment....for the most part.
A fine upstanding 18 year old young man and your fine upstanding 17 year old daughter willingly have sex. Should the young man die for molesting a minor?

Although it is a sad day when a innocent person is convicted. It is also a sad day when a guilty person goes free. I'm a firm believer in the death penalty. But in our so called humane society it's frowned upon. Our criminals get more sympathy than the victims. Just ask andrea yates for example. Some people think the death penalty isn't a deterant. I beg to differ. If we start giving the convicts the sentence they deserve crime will drop, all crimes. A person on death row has a better chance of dieing of natural causes than getting executed. Our death with lethal injection is a hell of alot more humane than they way they mudered their victims. We as a society need to start giving punishment, not finding excuses.
 
Well boys here's my 2 cents. I agree with Encore and David.

In my main jail I have over 200 of these Child Molesters locked up awaiting trial. They are a different looking and acting breed of scum.

These men if you can call them that, are usually very timid types weird acting too put it simple.

Most of you will be happy to know that these cases are usually very easy to solve. There is usually alot of physical evidence and most of the time 8 out of 10 times, they confess to their crimes.

We have 5 Detectives in a specialized unit and that's all they do is "Crimes against Children". God love them for what they do, and most of us have no idea what they see and go through everyday. But they are heroes without saying as they do a fine job.

And this goes for all those detectives across this country who do just that, catch the scum who prey on those little kids. I could not do there job for a second.

I've got no time for such individuals and have a hard time maintaining a professional attitude around these animals. Their best justice would be to turn them loose in the general jail population, there would be a painful justice when those inmates got ahold of them.

Why should our coin via tax $ be spent so that there is a 'caste' system in prison?

Why should someone that commits a $Billion fraud be in some cushy Club-Fed? Why should the predators of which this thread is focused be segregated as well?
Putting them in the general populous would be a form of deterrent, wouldn't it?

For example, if I knew that I would be in the general populous of prisoners for speeding, I think I would think twice about mashing my foot to the floor! (I only wish I could go that fast, the Chickwagon has an off the line start of 0-50 in about 2.3 minutes!)

Do you smell what I am stepping in????
