Choate Short Action Sniper Stock

Anybody using a Choate Short Action Sniper Stock? I'm looking to upgrade the stock on my Savage 16, and this looks like a pretty good piece, but I definately trust user's opinions more than a manufacturer's advertising. Any info would be helpful.

Look at the new Choate tactical. Way nice stock for the $$$ I put one on my Savage Tactical and really like it. Some will say I'm crazy, but Oh Well! I'm use to it. Check them out.

I have the Choate long action sniper stock on a Savage model 112 7 mm mag and I like it a lot because it takes the kick out of the 7 mm. It makes the gun pretty heavy but I would rather have a heavy gun that I could shoot all day long than a gun that I don't want to shoot more than a dozen times. As heavy as it is it's not ideal for hunting but I don't usually have to carry it to far where I hunt. here is a picture of it.

I have 2. One on a custom Remington .243. And the other on a Savage 10FPLE2A .223. I bought the one for the Remington after owning the Savage that I use for a P-dog rifle. For me I find it very easy to sit up to the scope for hours on end. Good luck on your choice.

yep, pretty much what them guys said..
Ive goe one on my .243 mod 70.
Heavy but it shoots good.
I dont understand the flimsy part though. it isnt a hammer...

Sorry SS and Jack, but I disagree about them being POS's. Granted they aren't Micky's but you don't pay 5 bills for it either. I got mine for a couple hundred bucks and it is way better than the factory stock. Heavy-yes, no-one will argue that, flimsy- I don't think so. Sorry guys, I like mine and would buy another. I am talking about the NEW Tactical model not the old style or the varmint. To each their own. JMO!!

I put one on my 22-250 and liked it so much I bought another for the long action rifles and will put it on if I am working up loads or anything that requires a little more stability or prolonged firing from the bench. They are FUGLY compared to a McMillan but you can buy 3 or 4 for the same price as one McM. If you can't afford a $5-600 stock, this will get you through but you may grow to like it! Good Luck

I personally liked the varmint style better than my sniper stock but either one worked well for what i needed. Miss my savage 308 10fp le1a that had the varmint stock.
