Choate Stocks - pros & cons?

Hi gang,
I have a Savage 12FV .223 sitting on a choate stock and have just ordered a Savage Model 12 Low Profile in .243, Horus Vision Predator with H70 reticle will be going on top. I've read some other threads in here and have seen some jabs at the choate stock. I was considering putting this new .243 on a choate but with all the negative comments I'm wondering what your thoughts are. I like the choate I have under my .223, but that might be due to the fact it is the first non-factory stock I've ever put on a gun. Let me know your thoughts, please.
Thanks in advance!

I have read some of those same threads that rip the Choate. But here's the deal. I shoot one and love it. In fact I just sent for another one for the Rem. listed below. The original that came on the Savage Sniper is a plain one fit me real well and the one on order is the Ultimate Sniper. I feel it just allows me to get real comfortable on the gun (no neck aches) for those long hot days of P-doggin. I guess if you have one and like it and it works real well for you then whats the issue ???? I guess you can go out and spend $900 + for an Accuracy International and still only get a one whole group. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'll say it " I like the Choate" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

PM me , I found a site that sells them for $156 ($166.15 to my door).

The only one that I have is the Ultimate Sniper and you could not pay me to take another one. It is extremely heavy but still very flimsy. It is impossible to shoot off bags because of how the forearm is shaped and the threads on the monopod in the buttstock are so loose the butt will wobble.

I really like the Choate's on both my NEF and my Savage, it provides an excellent platform for some long range hoggin...and what could be any better than that?

Well the second Choate arrived today. Screwed right in. Fit perfect.Cant wait to get it out. Have any of you put lead BB's and rosin in the butt and handle ? If so , about how much weight did it add ? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
