Circe 3 in 1

Quite a while back I bought a few “vintage” calls on eBay. 3 or 4 all at once deal for cheap. This Circe has sat unblown by me since I received it. I was curious, but I wasn’t putting my mouth on this thing! The only thing that made sense was that whomever owned it back in the day was a serious caller as well as a tobacco chewer!

I finally got it cleaned out and sanitized. The label still exists lacking any ink or printing that once was there. The thing sounds pretty good! I think I’m going to drag it out on my next hunt just to see what happens. Nothing super special, but I wish it could talk! Lol… something tells me it has a pretty impressive history.

Here ya go Hunt, I acquired mine while living in Globe Az. around 1973. Not the best picture of the internals but there are 3 reeds and the mouthpiece rotates for your selection.

Give that thing a try, it has worked for me in Arizona and Oklahoma.:giggle:

Thanks! I have no doubt it'll work. Just gotta drag it around and find the right coyote. I acquired mine at some point in the last year or so, but I'm guessing it's from the same era as yours. I haven't done any research on them, but researching other calls it usually comes down to the decals, markings, etc that give clues to the vintage. I assume my blank white decal used to look like yours. Maybe?

Yep, Circe wooden calls were made first and then morphed into polycarbonates. 3 Circe calls still listed on Flambeau Outdoors website.
Bobcats tend to like the higher pitch tone. A Winchester model 61 in 22 magnum was my jackrabbit rifle while living in Arizona and a couple times I had rabbit and coyote respond to the call. Ahh, those were the days!:giggle:

Well, what the hell! I was just goofing off with mine and my high pitched setting stopped working. Might need to tear into it to see what’s going on. Might be a hunk of chew in there! 😂

Blow into it from the outlet side first, before "tearing into" it, might be be tabaccy in there!

Tried that. Nope

edit: Maybe this call is haunted by the original owner and I stirred things up by cleaning it? I left it on the table and went to the legion with my wife so she could pay her Auxiliary dues or whatever. Had two drinks and came home. Works fine now! :ROFLMAO: Maybe I'm just more relaxed? 😜

Anyone know what that high pitched reed is made from? Maybe I just spit locked it, but I haven't really had that problem before with a closed reed and I didn't run it that much or hard to do so. Every call has it's "thing"... Maybe this is it's thing?
