Cleaning a Remington 700 Trigger

I was cleaning my VSSF and the bolt relaease was tight. After I got everything apart and looked at the bolt release and trigger assembly it appears I have a lot of gunk. I cleaned everything last spring before PD shooting started.

I just wanted to know what others do a recomment for cleaning and lubricating a 700 trigger.

Thanks

About a week ago, I read that to keep the 700 trigger lubed, you could use a teflon based spray or a synthetic grease. If you want a teflon spray, Rem-Lube (stays wet) or Rem-dry lube (dries to a powder). Shooters Choice has an a all temperature high tech synthetic grease...JOHN

Lighter fluid. Cleans and lubes. Doesn't gunk up. I'd never use any grease or oil in any of my triggers. But that's just me.

Remington has stated to not lube the trigger assby. Use lighter fluid to clean. Lighter fluid also has, what Remington says, is just a small of lubricant in it and when it dries out,the trigger is lubed properly.

Naptha is the ingredient you want to look for. That's what the stuff you use to refill Zippo's is. Don't know about the charcoal lighter stuff.
