I live in the North/Central Ky. Ive always had better luck close to thick cover. It seems they always find the thickest area around. We have plenty of water here. It seems there's a small creek or pond every 1/2 to 1 mile and most of the time closer.
The only ones Ive ever found bedded were laying with the wind at their backside from a slight angle and they were facing down hill.
