Cold weather Gear, what works and what don't

I went out and bought a box of hot hands and one for toes.
I have uninsultated boots, and a pair of 600g boots.
I like goose down as well. i have a lot of layers and thin ones that allow me to remove and stack as needed.
I have a set of Field Jacket Liner tops and bottoms for when it's really cold. (they were $10 each on ebay) and worth it. I have wool 3 finger gloves and the canvas shells for when it's really cold.
Those field Jacket liner tops and bottoms are amazing. I have hunted all day in the -10 weather and been really comfortable and its like sitting in a sleeping bag, but you can walk around and be comfortable since they are so light.
As for sleeping.. I have a low profile cot from Cabela's. nice and comfortable, I made a 2" thick med density foam pad covered in 800 denier fabric that keeps the water out (snow) I use a heavy grade (there is a differnce) Military 3 layer newer sleeping system that the outer layer is a Gortex. It's toasty, but gets a little cold in -20 nights. I have then put on the field jacket liners in there, and then was fine.
This is a Marine buddy and I during a contest, we stay out to get more rest and save Gas.
No matter what.. I always take food, water, flint, a multi tool and sleeping bag anywhere i go in the winter when hunting. You just never know, and i would feel really stupid suffering or dying from exposure cause my truck broke down, and i left this gear in my garage.

Just come to Alberta in Jan/Feb, when it's -40.
Sometimes it's so cold I wear a long sleeve Tshirt and button up most of my jacket.
-40C and -40 F is the same. We use metric for cold and the "N" scale for snow depth.
What's the "N" scale??

If someone was to come up to Alberta to go Coyote hunting, I saw where you can get a lic, that covers the Wolf and Coyotes.
I couldn't tell if there was a limit.
It also looks like i can't take the Hides. What do you do with them then?
Sorry, i have been trying to look into what is the process for hunting in Alberta and Saskat. One requires a guide/sponsor. I would like to do it. Maybe closer to early Dec. sometime, but I need to figure out the in's and out's first.

I personally dissagree with you on the account. I have spent many nights in freezing weather.
It's just as cold a foot lower.
The difference is keeping the freezing air from coming up from under you. This is why i use and suggest using a 2" thick medium density pad wrapped in a water proof fabric to keep the foam from getting wet and stop air from moving through the foam.
The Ground will suck the heat out of your bag faster than sleeping in the air.

Check out the Cabelas Outfitter Berber Fleece jacket and pants with Windshear. I bought this set last year and it is my favorite. I can put on my Merino wool base and then some carhartt pants under this stuff and stay toasty. It isnt as heavy as some of the other stuff either.
Those are amazing.. I have a friend that has those.. The issue he has is that Cactus and other nasty things almost jump on him as he walks by.. It's almost funny.
I love the options and Ideas you guys have shared. The issue that i run into out here is that we can have a 30+ degree temp shift during the day. Its a bear to dress for, and you have to come up with thin layers, easy to remove, and plan to sit cold in the AM and be hot in the PM.

Saskatchewan does not allow non residents to hunt coyotes or wolves.
In Alberta the licence is for coyotes and/or wolves with no bag limit on either one. Non residents can keep their pelts. Wolves require a cites permit to export. It just means your guide does the paperwork required.
