College Football

Michigan fan, hence my screen name! :ROFLMAO: We had a great run last year. This year isn't goin well. I think with the transfer portal and NIL, the days of back-to-back natties may be a thing of the past.

Illinois because I grew up close to Champaign and have 3 degrees from there. I have a degree from Northwestern too but I still can't stand their sports teams. I feel like Chris Farley. I'm retired from academics now...all in on predator hunting.

Coaches wanted college ball to be training grond for pros, got it now with the portal. With all the expensive HS stadiums, HS next. Heck with education, sports PAYS (a few). Don't watch much, prety much ruined the sport. Kinda like the gladiators of Rome now.

I'm kinda torn on the NIL. I don't think that the kids should be paid a salary so to speak, but I also don't think it's right for the schools and NCAA to be making hundreds of millions off of these kids while only "giving" them a degree. Take my team for example. They made enough money off of Trevor Lawerence to build a new complex....do the math?

I do think that's why Saban got out though and sadly I do think college football is on a downward spiral.

On a more positive note. I am so glad to see some of these schools playing other good schools early in the season. Bama is an example. they the first 9 games without playing a single ranked team. all they have is a three game season so no wonder they are so good at the end of the year.

Personally, I think the NIL will lead to the destruction of amateur (college) football. I've been watching more D-III ball the last couple of years because it seems like they're still playing the game for fun and an education. There's a small school in PA that I've been watching, Grove City, and they play some really good football. The athletes aren't on the same level as the FBS, but they are fun to watch. I still watch the FBS, but I think it won't be fun in a few more years. Although, I was tickled pink that Bama got beat this weekend, so there is that:).
As far as "my team", Boise State of course. You can tell that God is a fan as well by how He paints the sky Blue and Orange :ROFLMAO:.

Man. It kills me to watch a game on that field.

Husker fan, grew up during the glory years, endured almost 25 years where the best teams were mediocre and at worst they just weren't good at all, but they're back on the rise. Of course living in Nebraska it's hard not to be a fan. I really don't care to watch many other teams, but I do like the Chiefs, even more so after they stood behind their kicker's conservative viewpoints last spring.

I think scholarships mean next to nothing now, it's funny because decades ago they put a scholarship limit on to keep teams like NU from gobbling up all the talent, but now the money is virtually unlimited so the kids don't need a scholarship, they can just get paid then pay their own way from that, or so it seems. You sure don't here too much about staying under the limit anymore.

204 AR - wife is from Ne, wants to watch the games. I hear a lot of bad words from her now. Used to be kids just liked to play, now it's all about $. I pretty much lost interest.
