Colorado Wildlife Commission to ban Varmint hunting

Quote:
What these folks don't want to acknowledge is that this country has changed. They always want to compare today's PD population with that of 200 years ago. Gee, we now have cities, ranches, farms, mines, oil fields, highways, etc, etc. Oh, did I forget to mention the millions of people that now live here. Life isn't the same, the countryside isn't the same. This isn't rocket science. To make a comparison that the PD population is some single digit percentage of that estimated some 200 years ago is, in my opinion, idiotic.

Come on guys, I was practicing. This is a small part of my presentation. I need comments. But be nice.

This is something that truly angers me. Most of the facts are strewn, which is typicall of anti hunting pro animal hippies. Not much different than what we see as ranchers, and livestock owners, when peta puts out videos on slaughtering and feeding operations. Not much real evidence is used.

all these farmers and land owners should sent colorado a damage claim caused by the dogs. it could cost them millions. what will they do poison them? HOW AND THE HECK DO YOU RELOCATE 1000 OF DOGS.

I have sent PM's to many of you; however, if I missed you.

For those of us that live here in Colorado, we have found it extremely gratifying to see the support from our hunting buddies in other states.

As we know, this is not just a Colorado fight. If we lose here, what is next? PD’s in Wyoming? Wild pigs in Texas? Chucks in Ohio?

These types of movements need to be stopped BEFORE they gain momentum and that is our hope.

Once again from all of us Colorado folks, thank you!

Jim

You can see I've been at this computer too long today.

Just a note for those that are going in person - WEAR A SUIT AND TIE.

We had a game hearing her about 5 years ago, and 3/4ths of "our side" showed up in hunting clothes and had tee shirts that said things like "Happiness is a warm pile of guts"...

... and we got our collective asses handed to us, and we made the papers the next day - and it wasn't flattering.

Good luck.

I don't think a suit and tie are necessary. "Tasteful" street casual is appropriate. No shorts, no camo, no shirts with any sort of slogan on it. Be "neat".

Let the rat hugger's be the ones to dress like hippies.

Don't underestimate appearance. I have spent the last three years in court, representing myself in a child custody case against the state's largest custody law firm (I won), and I guarantee you that it does make a difference... casual street clothes say something about the person in them, and how seriously they take the matter.

Also, don't EVER underestimate the opposition, it is the best way to loose.

When going to a gun fight - bring a gun, bring two guns, bring all your friends that have guns...

These people may be a pain in the a$$m but I'll bet you a beer that they aren't stupid enough to show up dressed like hippies.

You don't want to be on the low end of the show.

Total agreement on any assumptions that this is a group of "hippies" as we characterize them. The front line will be full-time paid staff. This organization exists because of donations, big donations. With 3500 members when you look at the money they spend on staff, challenges, litigation, etc, etc. that's a lot of $$ per member. These people could be from almost any profession but most certainly will NOT be "rejects".

Image is everything. We are not trying to prove a point we are winning a battle. The opposition is trying to paint a picture of us as uncouth, ill-mannered "bubbas". Let's prove them wrong.

All the BS aside, as indicated in my previous post, you'll be seeing me in dress slacks and a sports coat, skipping the tie.

Affirmative. That's "office casual" and will be my attire, also.

We have >1,500 sig's on the e-petition, so far. I'm taking it off the server Monday afternoon. Tomorrow I'm heading south to pick up the hard copy petitions that were placed in sporting goods stores, gun shops, etc. I understand that there was a good response to those.

If anyone else has put out petitions for signature, we need to round them up. PM or email me if need be. Don't send them by snail mail. I'll come get them, if I have to.

If you have not sent me your email, then you didn't get the latest Newsletter "Update". Here's a sample of what you missed.

I'll be at the meeting - please look for me and ask me for a sticker so you can show the Commission that many of us in attendance support a prairie dog shooting ban.

Thanks for your help!

This is an example of who we will be opposing. It turns out that Ms. Rosma-rino (Program Director of WildEarth Guardians) is not only a member of Rocky Mountain Animal Defense, but is also a member of the notorious radical eco-terrorist group EARTHFIRST.

We can't win this without your help. I wish I would see some PM Moderators & staff signatures on the petition. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

After we win this thing, and we will, I think we should find a sponsor ranch in eastern Colorado for a huge PM "camp out".

I think it would be appropriate that we invite John Horning, Executive Director of Forest Guardians, the Board and all full time staff as our honored guests. Maybe we should invite the head of the DU Law School as well.

We owe them a special thank you, as they have drawn us closer together, increased our resolve and attracted new members to PM!

BTW guys, I hope you know I am "clowning" around as usual. We will make NO contact with the Guardians. That would be a huge mistake. But I was serious about the "campout".

Although, one thing I have learned through all of this, I am going to pay a lot closer attention to what these groups are doing. We are not going get caught with our "knickers" down again.
