NASA - working on getting a letter written by my brother in law (he is an excellent, common sense writer) regarding the impacts of pds on the farming community. I should hear back from him shortly..........

Wow, I heard back from the NRA already. Doesn't look real promising but heck, they responded.

This is what they said.

Chad-- thanks for your message. We are aware of this issue, but I will forward your note to NRA-ILA in the hope they can get someone to this meeting or take some other action.

Thank you for letting us know about it.

NRA is a non-profit and can't get involved. NRA-ILA is their for profit Lobbying group. Different guidelines apply as I understand it.

Thanks for pointing that out. Honestly I never took the time to figure all that out. I think the most effective thing that the NRA could do is help us spread the word and recruit more hunters to our cause.

The "Hunter's Right's" section of their website does have a specific link to report just these kind of things, just for everyone's future reference.

BTW,

It has come to my attention that some of my remarks regarding the staff and specifically Redfrog were disrespectful and frankly somewhat rude and offensive. I want to take a moment and publicly apologize to Redfrog and the staff at Predator Masters for this.

Sorry Guys!!

Please don't let me get anyone off topic, this was just something I needed to do!!

Cornstalker, thanks for the apology. It certainly wasn't needed. This is at best a poor media for communication, and often the message gets lost in the delivery.
We are all in this fight and any fight to preserve our hunting traditions, or gun rights. If any of you have any suggestions as to what PM can do within the legal limitations put on us, please let me know.

Wow! Almost 400 signatures on the petition over at Fins & Fur!

Keep it up guys, everyone needs to be counted.

Don't wait for someone else to do it for you, because if you do, it could be too late!

Here's the website if you don't have it close by:

Grab the baton and run!

Sorry it's taken me a while to see this and get on board. More power to you guys. Petition signed. Let me know if there's anything else I can do from Oregon. Tim

I think it would be helpful to expose this thread to all PM members, not just those who visit the Varmint Forum. This issue deserves the attention of every hunter and gun owner registered on this board. This is NOT just about prairie dogs. It's about the abolition of hunting rights. That affects everybody. When MY rights are taken away, that paves the way for YOUR rights to be taken away, as well.

Do you agree this is a worthwhile cause? Would making this thread a sticky in all Forums be asking too much? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Just a noob here (have lurked for a long time though!)but I'll throw in my 2 cents.

One thing that I have learned from people with a lot more experience than I, is that simply signing and sending form letters, holds a lot less weight with many elected officials than someone's own words, even if less eloquent.

One of the advantages we've had in fighting environmental groups on other issues is that they tend to use a lot of form letters, and we've learned that many recipients of these letters treat them more or less as "one" letter. One of the groups I belong to sends out email "alerts" with recommendations, contacts, and suggestions of points to hit on, but no prewritten letters.

My suggestion would be take as many of these great points that everyone has brought up as you can and fire off a short email written in your own words. The form letters and the petion certainly can't hurt though.

And nothing beats showing up in person at these meetings.

Thanks to those of you that take the time and expend the energy to lead these fights.

Guys - my 'internet surfing' time has been noticed at my job, so I haven't been able to spend the time on the website as I would like and I don't have a computer at home.

Thank you for all your efforts and picking up the ball I came in and then have dropped.

I tried to PM NASA to be include on the emails but it says he is over quote

Thanks

-Mike Jones

Just a refreasher for those just joining this thread, without having to read 20 pages. We have an online petition going here
http://www.finsandfuroutdoors.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=48

You can also PM me or NASA (his mail box is full) with your regular e-mail addy and we can forward a letter to you that is complete with e-mail addresses you can sign and send to to the CWC, or you can type out your own letter and forward it to them.

Please do read the first post on this thread so you can see what we are up against. Dont think this cant happen here or in your own state.

Thanks a ton Redfrog!!

I volunteer to help get email addresses added to the list as well. (in the event Furhunter fills up too)

Everyone, don't forget to consider your local gun stores, gunsmiths, shooting ranges, etc as places to spread the word!!!

I have been a lurker here at PM for a while but decided to become a member after reading this post. I have signed the petition and have posted a link to the petition at other hunting forums that I belong to.

I am a moderator on the online Shooting/Hunting forums hosted by Primedia Outdoors, the publishers of Guns and Ammo, Handguns, Shooting Times, Rifle Shooter, and Shotgun News. They are, of course, a commercial outfit, and not bound by the encumberances of the "not for profit" rules.

The higher-ups have allowed me to post links to both this thread and the online petition. They didn't have to do this, and truth is, they usually don't. I am grateful for their kind assistance.

Anyway....I've got a lot of friends over there, and I figure you can expect a few thousand more views over the next few days. And a bunch of them will be signing the petition.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I can't personally make the meeting in Grand Junction. I offer this instead.

Mike
