construction adhesive

For those of you who know; I am going to be installing some beadboard and some cedar closet liner over drywall.

The instructions say to nail every 4th board and use construction adhesive to secure the intermediate boards.

So which adhesive is best for this type of application?
I went to Home Depot, and there were many different types.

I like liquid nails brand. They made a number of adhisived, you will probably want panneling adhesive. I have used it to glue drywall over brick, panel board onto drywall, etc... Normaly the substrate will fail before the glue does.

Use the same, Liquid Nails.

I put up some insulation and tried both the power-grab and liquid nails. The power grab didn't adhere quite as quickly as the liquid nails. I went with the liquid nails in large part because it was 1/2 the price of the power grab.

You can't use liquid nails on bead board it will eat it up. You have to use a glue especially for bead board. Liquid nails makes one that will work I think though.

Thanks fellas, but as of now this project is canceled. And thankfully, before I got very much time or money invested in it.

The beadboard was to go on the ceiling but I got three courses installed and took it down.

It was turning out to not give the visual effect we wanted, and it wasnt going too well installation-wise either.

We're still going to do the cedar liner in the closet.

I tried some PL 375 adhesive.
This stuff is lousy. It is like bathtub calk with a little superglue thrown in.
