Contender G2 Carbine

Has anyone had any experience with the TC Contender G2 Carbine? I am thinking about getting one equipped with a 221 FB barrel for a light weight calling rifle. I would like to know if they are accurate and how are the triggers out of the box. I am guessing the approximate weight of the gun w/o scope is around 5 1/2 lbs.

I had one from the Custom Shop but it was not a G2. I had to send it back to be worked on as it would string shots up and down. It would shoot pretty good for a while but would start stringing them again. It was in .221 and the Fireball really shoots well in every rifle I own. I would look to Bullberry. I have owned and shot T/C's for 25 yrs and the new ones are not as good as the old ones in my opinion.

I have one G2 carbine and one original carbine. Barrels in .221 FB, .204 Ruger (2 of those), 6mm 30-30 AI, a few more and a couple on the way. Some are custom barrels from VVCG, Bullberry, MGM and some are factory. Your guess on the weight is right on for 21-23" bull barrel....maybe just a bit more. I won't tell how accurate they are because it means nothing until you see it....lets just say I use them to shoot prairie dogs regularly and several shots go over 400 yds. My personal best is with the .221...at a ranged 551 yds. took four shots to figure the drop.
I have at times owned TC Contenders from the first generation in the seventies on..........I'm a believer but there are some technique differences in both loading and shooting.

I have a Carbine in .221,20" full bull barrel by Bullberry that I love. Shoots .25" when I do my part. Also have a .20 Vartarg Carbine that I love also. It does`nt shoot near as good but the maker is making me a new one because of that fact. I do`nt want to list his name yet so he wo`nt get a bad reputation because of one bad barrel. If the replacement is`nt better then I will post his name. They are very handy to carry and shoot. I agree they take a little different loading process than a bolt gun to shoot well. I also like the pre-G-2 frames best. Pre-G-2 frames have excellent triggers.

How, does this work? Do you buy the G2 frame then send it to Bullberry or just order the barrel from them and put it together yourself? can you buy everything from Bulberry?

Buy the barrel from Bullberry, find a used Contender frame on the internet or at a gunshop, then you will need to find a stock and foreend somewhere. I made my own stock and foreend but Boyds or TC sells ready made stocks. I wanted a stock with a raised cheek piece and niether makes them.

After having both originals and the newer G2 frames I made a couple of observations. I like the triggers and the style of the older ones better....but the G2 is so much easier to work with and the factory buttstocks are much better setup for a scope and they have a raised cheekpiece.
