Converted my 700 BDL to a DM w/ factory parts

I've been reading about doing this conversion on my Rem 700 BDL in 22-250 for a few years now, I did not want to spend $200-$400 for an aftermarket DBM kit since its just my calling rifle, so I went with factory Remington bottom metal & magazine.

I picked up a SPS take off stock & factory bottom metal along with a magazine.

The stock arrived last week & the bottom metal & mag showed up yesterday afternoon. Took about a half hour of whittling, sanding, dremeling & I had her in working order.

I pulled the firing pin from my bolt, loaded the magazine with dummy rounds & started cycling rounds through the action. I've cycled close to a hundred rounds from the mag into the action without a hitch.

Will test her out at the range here shortly before taking it into the field.

Heres a few pics, I still need to free float the barrel & relieve around the trigger guard completely.

Enjoy, Lee

P.S. yes I know my rings & bases have a lil rust on them.

That looks really good. I'm glad to hear that it's functioning well for you. I just picked up this same DBM setup for one of my hunting rifles since I couldn't find the HS DBM anywhere. I'll be putting it in a Manners T stock.

Where did you find the factory DBM?

Thanks guys, it should make calling a lil bit easier loading & unloading atleast.

I bought the bottom metal, mag, & the stock from a couple of guys on the classifieds forum.

Brownells, Midway, Numrich & all the other stores usually carry the bottom metal & mags. Take off SPS stocks are usually easy to find in the classifieds.

Glad you guy's liked it, Lee
